She often wondered how she and her brother did not look as though they were clones, considering the decades of inbreeding amongst her pureblood line.

However, as she glanced at her sibling, who was seated at the opposite side of the table, it was certain he still had his blond, tufted hair, while she had her dark brown locks tumbling smoothly over her shoulders.

There were several further differences between the two's looks, and the only real similarities they shared were their cocoa eyes and middle names.

As well as the inbreeding, her family seemed to have another unhealthy and slightly concerning obsession of naming their children after the stars.

They were like many other purebloods in this matter, especially the Black line.

But her mother had thankfully decided to satisfy the tradition of their predecessors, her offspring needed only to have one of their names originated from a constellation, or spacial topic.

That was how her middle name came to be Celeste and Wyatt's became Polaris.

She was extremely glad she had only three names, unlike the school's headmaster, Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore.

In her opinion, it was highly unusual and silly to call the fetus that had been festering inside you, for nine months no less, ridiculously pompous sounding names.

Alyssa ignored the clatter of knives against plates and clammering of students while she let her fork pause, stuck in her gammon, and thought.

The Arvoitus heir found her mind drifting away from her and she allowed it to calmly, let her eyes wonder over the Great Hall.

They ghosted over the dark green banners of Slytherin, over the rich navy of Ravenclaw and to her home.

The muted yellow of Hufflepuff.

It could seem garish on some, the mustard shade of cloth, but Alyssa pondered if it would look good on her.

She shook her head, turning back to face her plate, determinedly. She wouldn't think of such things she knew her parents would never approve of. She must think of the moment currently passing her by.

Not of what could have been.

It was hypocritical really; Alyssa had always been told she must live in the present moment, but only seconds later, she would be ordered to look ahead, to her future.

And what a dull future it seemed. Her mother strongly believed she should get a husband, dress prim and proper, cook the meals and do the housework. Her father believed he should get rid of her to another man as soon as he could, practically sell her off for his own gain.

But her reasoning was hey, what did Jesus die for if not for us to sin a little?

And sin she would, following the boy with the lightning scar into the flames and battles yet to be fought.

Alyssa Celeste Arvoitus would follow Harry Potter anywhere: the only thing was, she didn't know that yet.

He allowed himself to tone out Ron's droning, the noise a buzz in his ears as his eyes drifted over the hall.

They skimmed over the teacher's table and landed on her.

Everyone knew who she was. The eldest Arvoitus sibling was gazing longingly at the row of chattering Hufflepuffs, then let her gaze fall to her plate.

Harry recalled the only person who had ever befriended her, in all of the three previous years of Hogwarts, was Cedric Diggory. The golden boy from the house of the benevolent and kind.

It had been confusing to all but the two the subject involved, since they seemed to be polar opposites. Diggory was all things outgoing and friendly, while Alyssa was said to be rude, fierce and proud of being so.

No matter how she had tried to resist, the boy had wormed his way into her heart, and he didn't seem to give up easily until he had.

And Harry James Potter didn't know just how important the Hufflepuff and Slytherin would become to him.

All in good time, the prophecy supposed.
