Squishy Beings

As I slowly opened my eyes, I saw a being. The being was shaped weirdly, and was very big and was saying things like "Welcome!" 

Jeez, ever heard of personal space? The being started to pick me up. Woah, woah, woah. I tried to move away but the being was too big and picked me up easily. The being laughed and looked back to other weird beings. They all slowly walked up to me and started touching me. Their breath smelled so bad... They seemed friendly though, they weren't trying to hurt me. I stayed stiff, but my tail was wagging. Stop it tail! 

My thoughts were drowned by "Aww", "Look he's blinking!", "Look his tail is wagging!" "Aww," "Aww," "Aww." 

There were 4 beings. The first one, the one that so rudely picked me up without my consent was the smallest. 

The other one, who was slightly bigger, and looked very bored and annoyed. 

Then there were other two who were smiling but looked very tired. 

I took a big sniff around and smelled the thing I loved most... FOOD.. I squirmed out of the beings hands and the being slowly let me down. The smell wasn't so strong so I tried to play Hot N' Cold. When it got stronger I thought "Hot!" When the smell wasn't so strong I thought "Cold!" Eventually I found a small gray room where the smell was the strongest. But it was on a big rock (counter) that was blocking me. I started to whine.

"Awwwwwwwww," the smallest being said. 

I started to wag my tail. Give me food.

"You're a good boy, aren't you?" the being said. She came and flipped me over and started to tickle my stomach. Then flipped me over gave me a rub on my back -which felt AMAZING-  and patted my head. 

I nodded to the food and the being grinned. It said, "OH MY GOSH, look, brother! He's so smart! He wanted food so he looked up to the counter to ask me for food!!" 

"Yay.. How brilliant.." a being called from the room where I met all the beings. 

One of the biggest beings walked in. "Aanya remember what the vet said, he should only stick to dog food for a few months till he's more mature and strong to eat human food." 

"I know, I know, Papa.." the smallest being said said.

"And I'm sure he's not that  smart." A big being came in and said, slightly smaller from the biggest. 

"Can we just GET OVER the DUMB DOG and eat DINNER already!?" The annoyed and bored being said. 

"Hey, that was rude and uncalled for, take that back." I barked. 

"So smart.." The smallest being said in awe. 

"OH MY GOD. Get over him already! He has a brain the size of a PEANUT." The being stomped out of the room. 

"Aanya, he's right about one thing, we should have dinner, you have school tomorrow anyway." The biggest being said. 

"Besides, I made the spiciest kachori and aloo sabzi today. I bet you can't handle it." The second biggest being said, grinning. 

"OH IT'S ON!" The smallest being said grinning back. 

As I watched, I couldn't help but be happy, they were so kind and loving to me. I didn't even know the world. But I did have a few questions what was that that were they saying, "He should stick to dog  food for a few months." What was a dog? Why did I look different from them? What was a human? What's my name? What's their name? I thought about this while following them to the kitchen and seeing them laugh at the dinner table, well except the bored and annoyed being.

Chapter 1's glossary:

Kachori: A Indian snack that almost the entire Indian population has eaten at least once in their life. Sometimes it is filled with toppings and served dry or with sabzi or sauce. Kachori is deep fried in oil. In my home we have kachori that does not have toppings inside, and we eat it with paneer sabzi or aloo sabzi.

Aloo Sabzi: Aloo sabzi is a thick liquid that is crushed potatoes with other vegetables like tomatoes or onions, aloo sabzi can be eaten with kachori, roti, bread, paratha and more.
