⚠️Soulmate strings pt 1

"No. I already said I'm not doing it!" Laurence yelled grabbing his left hand and holding it to his chest.

"Come on man. Just summon your damn string. Unless you're hiding a mark on you~." Katelyn said purring out the last little bit.

"N. O. No. I dont want a soulmate string. I want to choose who I fall in love with damn it! I don't want the universe telling me who I should love!" Laurence yelled stomping his foot.

"Come on Laurence! Maybe it'll be connected to aph~. You'll never know until you summon it~." Dante teased gaining a glare from aphmau.

"Ha! Fine. On the off chance that aphmau who clearly isn't in love with me, has a child with another man, is literally irene, past lord, and founder of the Phoenix alliance, is my soulmate." Laurence said extremely skeptical of the whole situation.

He held out his hand and a red string started to appear out of thin air. He had hope that maybe it would actually go to aphmau but as soon as he saw the string head for the door away from aphmau and everyone in the room he immediately regretted his decision.

He wiped his head around and glared daggers at dante.

"Eeeeek!! You have a soulmate Laurence!!" Aphmau squealed like the fan girl she is.

"No. No. No. No. No. No. No." Laurence growled out gripping the thin string in his hand.

"I dont want a soulmate." Laurence said anger leasing his voice and dante got a scared look on his face.

"Laurence. Dont do anything stupid." Dante said not wanting Laurence to cut the string.

Dante knew the pain of having his soulmate string cut by his soulmate. When nicole left she cut the string. Her string turned black and she couldn't have another soulmate because of this mistake. Dante had gotten a mark and he found out he was now soulmates with KC.

Dante didn't blame Nicole but the pain was unforgettable and the worst thing he had ever experienced.

Laurence stomped out of the meeting room quickly heading to his place to get a sharp knife.

---with garroth---

Garroth was on patrol with Travis. Lots of bandits liked to show up out of nowhere and try to steal from the merchants houses. Donna would kill him if someone brakes into her house again.

Then. Out of nowhere. Garroth felt something tug on his hand.

He looked down to see a red string wrapped around his hand and tangled in the bushes.

"Yo! Dude! You have a red string! Why didn't you tell me!?" Travis said in awe.

"I.. I didn't even know I had one myself..." garroth said carefully untangling it from the bush and held it gently in his hands. His eyes were wide and he was having trouble protecting the string in his hand.

"Garroth! You have a soulmate!! That's awesome!!" Travis cheered. Before looking garroth up and down and realizing something was off.

"Is someone wrong?" Travis ask looking at garroth's blank face.

But an unexpected grin broke onto garroths face and his eyes seemed to light up with a life force travis had never seen in garroths eyes before.

"I'm fine. Just caught off guard I guess. Heh.." garroth laughed a bit to himself realizing the pun he just made. Damn. Aphmau must have rubbed off on him over the years.

"Pfft- I'll take it you're happy about this new knowledge?" Travis joked nudging garroth's shoulder.

"You have no idea how happy this makes me." Garroth said tangling the string in his fingers before untangling it quickly.

A few minutes went by with them talking and travis showed off his mark which was a blueberry surrounded by purple mist. Him and Katelyn were definitely soulmates but Katelyn has yet to show her mark.

Out of nowhere garroth cried out in pain and heaved over clenching his chest. It felt him a red hot dagger was being shoved through his chest.

Travis panicked and quickly tried to grab him but he forgot garroth didn't like being touched and garroth kicked at him.

Garroth looked down at his hand to too the string. It was dissolving and stopped about 5 inches from his hand.

"Dear Enki... your string.." travis said slowly pushing himself up. "They.. they cut it..." travis continued as he saw the pained confusion on garroth's face.

Then the string disappeared. It can only be unsummed by the one who summed it. So his soul mate must have hid it as soon as they cut it.

"Wh-why.." garroth asked curling in on himself. He couldn't help as tears flowed down his face and he desperately wiped them away.

He felt like he was being choked with vines covered in thorns. His head was spinning and his heart hurt both physical and emotionally. He was in pure agony. The only reson he wasn't screaming in pain right there was because travis was there.

Did they not want me? Were they in love with someone else? Did someone force them to cut it? Are they ok? These were only a few of many questions going through garroth's head.

"Hey.. maybe you should go home.. rest. I'll finish here." Travis said giving garroth a small smile but garroth couldn't help but feel weak.

"D-dont. Tell. Anyone. About this.." garroth forced out through his clenched jaw.

Travis nodded and said, "as long as you go home and get some rest. I don't know much but I know the pain of a cut soulmate string is excruciating." Travis said concerned for his friends wellbeing.

Garroth quietly stood up but not without stumbling. He gritted his teeth trying not to fall back down to the ground.

Travis opened his mouth to speak but stopped as garroth quickly made his way to the original guard post where he and Laurence stayed.

Garroth was able to make his way to his place without much problems but he got odd looks from people passing by dew to the tears streaming down his face.

He climbed the latter, through the trap door, and made his way into the room. Locking the door behind him.

As soon as he was inside he collapsed on his bed a muffled scream made it way into his pillow. He couldn't hold it back anymore. The physical pain had subsided a bit by now but the emotional pain he had only felt once before had taken over and was only getting worse.

His soul felt like it was shattered.
