As the sun rose at the start of the term, Cheryl opened her eyes. She was snuggled up in a sofa bed with a thick blanket and quill. A desk was sat across her bed, next to the window near a spruce bookshelf. Close to the door sat an oak closet. Facing the window was a full grain leather armchair. She stood up and got dressed in a white collar shirt, blue tie, and black pants. Cheryl grabbed a number of books from the bookshelf. She had taken seven subjects, each of those which she liked.
Cheryl managed to get hold of her dorm key on the way out. Outside, in the corridor, she bumped into Hebrew again, literally.
"Oh!"
They crashed clumsily and carelessly among a few other students. A few students gave them weird looks.
"Watch it!"
Warned one, who was twice as short as Hebrew. Cheryl giggled.
"Hey! You dwarves! Don't you DARE shove me! You're so gonna pay!"
Bellowed another student, this one towering over the two. Cheryl and Hebrew stopped giggling and murmured their apology. They gathered their books and started down the hall.
"Uhm...hi, again? Hebrew, was it?" Cheryl confirmed, "what classes do you have?"
Hebrew checked the books he was carrying.
"Let's see, Beginner Chemistry, Astronomy, Beginner Chinese, ugh Algebra, Literature, Field Sport and yes, it's Hebrew. First class, hm," he checked his planner, "Assembly."
For the next few weeks, Cheryl and Hebrew had intense studying. Their calendars were filled and they were exhausted with running around trying to catch their lessons. As the third weekend came, Hebrew was exited for a final rest, but Cheryl had too many plans to do homework.
Saturday rolled around and Hebrew was chilling on his bed tapping on his phone while Cheryl self-entered with a poster in her hands. She walked over to where Hebrew was relaxing and flicked him the poser. Hebrew read it silently, where he was done, he removed it from his sight and saw Cheryl smiling. She was holding two cupcakes.
"You know I love Geography, right? Well...I got into the Geography Bee!"
They ate their cupcakes together whilst the rain heavily pitter-pattered on the window.
It was early Monday morning, Cheryl and Hebrew were walking to the East Block calmly, when suddenly a scream was heard. The two raced off the path to where they heard the scream from: the Science Block. When they arrived, the whole building was in flames. Students were running here and there and everything was a blur. There were burning desks, falling from the windows like bombs and cackling books being thrown around. In the fire, Cheryl saw flipped chairs and other burning things. But what was that?
A shadow stood in the flames untouched.
