Does happily ever after really exist?

Advik's pov

I am in my car on my way to the orphanage. I usually don't go there personally to make donations. But I cannot stay away from one person I tend to be. Mom! I am angry with her. She left me, without even a goodbye. I wouldn't have hold grudge against her but she knew she was dying still, she didn't tell me. We had such lovely relation. I miss her. I miss her daily. This was her favorite place.

 I am trying to keep her thoughts at bay but Rue somehow manages to remind me of her. I heard dad and Rue talking about her. Rue knew her. I think they were close. How? Why? If she was this close then how come she didn't come to mom's funeral?

I even heard dad asking her about family. But she dismissed him. Why? Is she hiding something? I've never seen or heard about her personal life. She is a mystery. She is different. I am really curious about her. I have a lot of questions about her. When I think she doesn't even like her name. Why? God knows!

Her parents must proud of her. She is an intelligent, smart girl, which is rare nowadays.

I got out of my car. I directly went to the orphan manager's office, wondering why the ground is quiet in the evening. 

"Hello Mr. Rey I didn't know we were expecting you." Mr. Iyer greeted me. He takes care of everything here. " I didn't inform anyone. I came here for this." I handed him the check. " I am glad you came here. You must be missing your mom Sara." He patted me on my shoulder. I nodded curtly. I glanced around.

" Where are the children? " I asked him, looking around. " Children... They are in common room. They love to hear stories. Usually it's their playing time but, they insisted the girl to read a book for them." I nodded. I asked him the way to common room. He came to drop me there. 

I could see children sitting on the floor. Some familiar sweet-voiced girl was reading a book to them. I couldn't see her face. I asked Mr. Iyer not to disturb them and he should proceed to his work. He thanked me and left, shaking his head in amusement. I ignored him and went to the common room. Rue........? She is the one who's reading book to them. She never leaves a chance to surprise me. I stood there quietly, listening to her. I don't get her. Every time I make some opinion on her and she proves it wrong.

Who is she?

The shy one I saw at the welcome party OR the one who is dad's angel OR the one she became when I shouted at her OR the smart one who planned ramp walk OR the confident one who gave speech OR the shaking maniac after speech OR the carefree one with Shray and Zain OR the feisty one with me and Rina OR the brave one who saved dad after his heart attack OR this the kind one sitting in front of me surrounded by children.

It's like she has infinite shades of herself. A different one for every occasion.

" Diiiiiii one more." children shouted in unison. She giggled.  " we finished 'The enchated wood' today. We don't have time for next book. Next time promise! Okay? " she gave the sweetest smile. They groaned and agreed. " She is their favourite." Mr. Iyer stood behind me pointed towards the children. I gave him a nod, I don't why is he telling me this? " little buddies freshen up and gather for dinner." She said picking up a girl. Children started running to their rooms. I saw Rue holding a little girl. She was explaining something to Rue. Rue pouted at her. She looks beautiful, peaceful - SERENE. " Rue Come here I want you meet someone." Mr. Iyer called her. She kissed on little girl's cheek and Came to us.

" Yes Mr. Iyer" She turned and spotted me. Finally. Her eyes widen " Rue meet Mr. Rey" Mr. Iyer introduced her. " Advik? What are you doing here? " She said in confusion. " You guys know each other?" Now Mr. Iyer got confused. " I came here for some work." I told her casually. She nodded. Mr. Iyer was looking from me to her and to me, to clear his confusion I stated.  " She is my sister's friend " Mr. Iyer too nodded.
