*Y/N's P.O.V.*
"I think you've found your perfect partner, John," I teased my friend while I catch up with him during my coffee break near Scotland Yard, "And out of all people, I can't believe it's Sherlock Holmes."
John chuckled while shaking his head at my comment, "It's not like that, Y/N. But he is really someone extraordinary. Explains why Inspector Lestrade trusts him so much."
"I trust that genius of a man too. His deductions skills always blows me away. If only I can connect the dots like him," I said truthfully, "I'm just glad you two were able to step on the same ground so fast. See? Within days, you're already solving crimes with him."
John nodded and smiled. I noticed too that his limp is gone now. The first time I saw him weeks ago, it's obvious he was in a very dark space, now, the doctor looks ready for the world again.
He is an old family friend and when we connected again, he mentioned needing a place to stay and that very same day, Sherlock did say the same thing to me. I'm glad I was able to connect them and now they are quickly forming a dynamic duo partnership.
"Just be careful, okay? I know you and him can probably take care of yourselves, but in the line of work you're doing, you're going to come across wicked people. In those cases, don't hesitate to call me or Lestrade, we're here for that purpose anyway," I told him.
"Of course, detective," John nodded and I immediately noticed him going off in a deep thought. I didn't immediately ask if everything is okay, I'm sure he's still hesitating whether he wants to tell me what he's thinking or not. But not after a few more seconds, I got what I was curious about, "Can you actually help me with something? This is somehow involved with the Jeff Hope case and Sherlock stumbled upon something, but we have no idea what or who it is...." John looked serious and somehow the ambiance around us became tensed. He took a pen out of his pocket and grabbed a paper nearby, then started writing on it. Once he was done, he slip the paper towards me and on it was a name...
Moriarty.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Why does that name look and sound familiar? Why do I feel like I've come across it somewhere, but what frustrates me is I can't remember where.
It had been three days since John had given me clue, but until now I'm stuck. But I swear I know that name from somewhere, I know I came across that already. I've been spending so much time in the evidence room of our division, diving in past cases that I have handled and solved. After so many individual binders, I finally came face to face with the biggest one of all - the Black Lotus Tong criminal organization case.
This one was a mess. So many divisions were involved and technically, it's not completely solved yet. This global ancient secret criminal organization had made it's way to London few years ago and we still don't know how. We've brought down some of its operation here, but we know the mastermind is still out there somewhere and I'm now believing this is where I came across that name.
I scanned the binder from page to page, reading all details and information and hoping to come across that name, but after hundred of pages - still nothing.
"Come on, brain," I encouraged myself as I continued looking at the case and finally, I spotted something.
I was on a page where a collection of the organization's lotus tattoo images were pasted. Members of that crime group have this small tattoo on their body and now that I'm deeply looking at it, there is a distinct and unique glyph on each one of them. I put down all the symbols and a piece of paper then left the evidence room to now go on to my laptop. After hours of looking at ciphers, I was finally able to decode the symbols and to my shock...it contains all letters that would complete Moriarty. I once did this before, but I didn't know what to do with the letters, but now it makes sense.
