"What the hell are you doing here, Moriarty?!" I whispered-shout at the stubborn Napoleon of Crime after he swiftly walked towards my table in this small private pub. He calmly sat across me like I've invited him over.

I'm supposed to be working alone during this somehow silent night. He tasked me to keep an eye out for this huge drug cartel transaction that's about to happen. It was a simple job, I just needed to be low-key and do a stakeout, but now that the infamous criminal is here with me, it just messed up my plan.

"Checking on my favorite private investigator," he answered in a flirty manner.

"I don't need you to micromanage me. I've worked for you for years, you know I always deliver," I told him.

"I know, hence the favorite title," Jim winked at me before taking a sip of his drink, "I just wanted to see you working."

"I don't think you realize what you just did tonight. Didn't you think this through?" I asked. I'm trying my best to keep my voice down and keeping a smiling face at him because I didn't want to attract any attention towards us.

"Love, nobody recognizes me. Relax. You're being the suspicious one," he replied calmly. Come to think of it, his attire and whole look is way different than business-Jim Moriarty. Tonight he just looks so casual, ready to find someone to have a one night stand with.

The bastard is a charming beast in any shape or form, I'll give him that.

I just sighed at him. Of course, I will never win an argument against him. Jim loves it when I often get frustrated because of his antics. For some reason, he just finds it entertaining to tease me and put me in these kinds of situation.

I know for a fact I'm somehow interesting to him, because let's be honest, I'd be long dead if I wasn't. Somehow I'm able to go head to head against him and he's letting it happen. I've seen a lot of other colleagues try to do this, but it always doesn't go well for them - I'm the only one that can talk back to him like this. And he tolerates me.

"Just continue your work like I'm not here. You can do that right?" Jim stated with a grin, "Or am I too much of a distraction?" he leaned in closer, his cheeky tone was getting on my head.

I felt my cheeks warming up. Him being close and teasing me like this was throwing me off. I think he caught on with the fact that I'm attracted to him now and he's playing with that information now. He's a flirty one after all.

"Bold claims there, Jimmy. Is that your observation or are you just reflecting?" I decided to play with him and call him out.

For a split second, he was taken back, but he immediately regained his confidence. If he caught my attraction towards him, I definitely got his rare interest in me as well.

"Naaw, don't call yourself that, darling. You're more than a distraction to me," he stated. I'm sure that was supposed to sound like a tease, but for me, it sounded so genuine.

My cheeks continued to warm up and before anything else can be said, I just laughed at him and excused myself from our table.

Even though I didn't want to admit it, he really is distracting me.

"Focus on your work, Y/N!" I murmured to myself.

I spent a little time inside the bathroom to get myself together and to keep my head on my mission. I've noticed that people on my list have been coming in the past few minutes and I need to concentrate on this more instead of flirting with Jim.
