I knew this day would come
Look, here it comes on a chariot
It's an uncouth blue-blood barging in on my calendar page of yesterday
Like a stranger at my door...or no,
This unwanted suitor in my bed,
Here it is, we have all the time,
Let us wonder and wander,
Let us sit under the bright full moon
And let's talk about our folly,
Our wishes and those dreams we built in the sands,
Let us kick the wrecks of this castle in our faces,
And swing from the towers so high,
Quickly, before the waves come rushing,
Let us set our pride aside,
And dance in the shame of our yesterday,
Until only time can tell how much we have bought and how much we have spentLet us karaoke to the music that has stopped playing,
Like drunken Lords outside their chambers who have lost their pride,
And when morning comes,
Bringing sunshine with it,
Oh let us be bright and gay!
Let us hide these memories far in nature's purse, far in the oceans deep,
Hoping never to forget
All the mistakes we have made,
And willing to repeat them,
As soon as we are brave enough to move on,
Only time can tell, only time will tell,Let us pray for the rains to come once again,
So we can scream and shout and wail,
As we await our redemption,
Oh let the thunder strike!
That we may run and hide in our nakedness,
Singing the lullaby to comfort us in our sleep,
And when morning comes,
Let us remember none of these,
And awake with smiles for everyone,
And a long laughter on our lips
With healing in our soul and mind
Only time and us will tell.
