I lay behind her on the bed. As she sleeps peacefully, my eyes trace the outline of her body in the moonlight, taking in her beauty. After all these years, she's still the most beautiful creature I have ever laid eyes on.

A gentle breeze blows through the open window, causing the curtains to billow lightly and offering me a draw of her perfume. I move in closer to smell her hair, gently running my finger from the tip of her shoulder and down her arm, causing her to stir and let out a contented sigh.

A sudden noise from downstairs startles me and draws my attention. I carefully creep out of bed so as not to wake her and sneak towards the door. Peering through the crack into the darkness I strain to see. A shadow moves at the bottom of the stairs. I glance back at her. She's still asleep, oblivious to the danger.

One by one the stairs begin to creak under the weight of somebody ascending. I quickly make my way towards the window. Blowing her a kiss before leaving, I slip back into the night and slide the window shut behind me.

"Until next time, my love."
