Everything Happens for a Reason. That Reason caused change.
Sometimes it hurts
Sometimes it's hard
But in the end it's all for the best
Students ran past the gates as it was nearly time for them to close. Aera stood inbetween the gates, her pupils fized on the building ahead. Her feet were stuck in place. She couldn't take a single step. She didn't want to admit it but she was afraid.
"Are you not entering?" the security guard asked her irritated. He was pulling the gate closed but he couldn't fully because she was in his way. "Can you move?" She saw that it was a minute past the time the gates close. Many students were able to sneak in past because she was blocking the security guard.
"Oh I'm sorry" she bowed before running away
Fear
Anxiety
Eyes focused on her every move as she moved along the corridor. The news spread like wildfire.
Aera dragged her feet into her classroom. As she stepped in her classmates stopped gossiping and watched her make way to her desk.
It was covered all with nasty comments
Die!
I don't want to go to school with a f*cking murderer
f*ck off
You killed your own mother you witch
Leave the school. People like you should be in juvenile
f*cking bitch!
Die you wh*re
Monster
Tears built at the tip of her eyes. Aera blinked forcefully, preventing the tears from falling. She pursed her lips and placed her bag on the desk. She sat down on the chair but as she rested all her weight on the chair it collapsed causing her to fall on the behind.
Her muscles ached and she groaned in pain. She looked around to see her classmates laughing at her. She spotted Byeol staring from the front of the class.
Aera smiled slightly hoping that her best friend at least will help and wouldn't believe any of the rumours spreading in the air.
But to her dismay Aera's smile didn't reciprocate on Byeol's features. She didn't smile back. The expression she placed across her face was unreadable. A hint of sadness and confusion. Or was it hatred?
Aera couldn't believe her eyes. Byeol... Her best friend. The only person in her life she trusted isn't helping or supporting her. Aera wasn't sure but if she was just misunderstanding the situation. Since yesterday her mind hasn't been mentally stable. The girl came to a conclusion. Byeol was looking at her like she was a monster.
Byeol took a step towards Aera but Aera wanted nothing to do with her. Without looking back she grabbed her back sprinting out the classroom
Why! Why Byeol? You were the only one I had left and you as well .. why!
Droplets of salt water escaped the barrier. Her eyes were blurry and she couldn't see the path in front of her. A sharp turn to another hallway and she would be out of the retched place. With a unclear vision she walked straight into a strangers chest falling back onto the cold flooring.
"Aera is that you?" Aera looked up to see Dae-hyun looking down at her collapsed body. He put his hand out to help her get up. Grateful for his help she reached her hand to grab onto his. He pulled her up halfway then purposefully let go making the girl fall flat onto the floor with greater pain. She winced at her pounding elbow rubbing at the wounded area.
Dea-hyun laughed and high-fived his friend. Students gathered around them. "Wow Aera! I can't actually believe you killed your mother and you have the confidence to actually come to school"
"I didn't kill her!" she shouted out looking at the crowd surrounding her. "Oh really but she is still in the hospital and even if she isn't dead it's still attempt murder!"
But I didn't stab her!
"I didn't even want to kill her so it's not attempt murder" she gritted her teeth tightening her jaw. She had to stay strong, she knew what they wanted from her. They wanted to girl to fall into a pit of guilt and cry. They wanted her to be weak and vulnerable under their gaze. She won't give it to them after she didn't kill her mother. They were wrong.
"Hmm well that's not what everyone heard. Omg something really interesting everyone. Did you know that Area is naturally violent? When she tutored me for maths last year she said that she would kill me if I got the answer wrong"
No I never did! Why is he lying!
Her mouth fell ajar. Her voice was stuck in her throat. She was too shocked by Dae-hyun's sudden change in behaviour. Just the other day he was confessing his feelings towards her. Was he always like this? Was this his true colours? He eyes never left his hoping that maybe he was still the kind boy she knew. Dae-hyun looked down at the girl who was on the floor. His eyes pierced down into her teary orbs. A smirk etched across his lips. That's when she understood...
He's mad. He is mad that I rejected him
Aera's swallowed the lump in her throat trying to calm her nerves down. The glares and hatred comments thrown at her didn't help one bit. They made it even more worse for her to sustain her aching heart.
Abruptly, she got up onto her feet brushing herself off. She barged past Dae-hyun and everyone else. Running somewhere far. Somewhere not here.
The faint insults of the other students could still be heard from far away. She ran out the school gates her fists balled up holding back all her emotions. She tried to block out all the unwanted thought. But she could still hear the voices of the students ringing in her ears which didn't help one bit.
Never again she will step back into the school
She ran away .. like a coward!
