The Ending That Brought Us Back Together

Part 1

It's been three years since my parents split up, and like most kids you don't want to see that happen , but I think it was kinda of good for them to give each other space . When Dani had passed away it was hard for dad because he always blamed himself for what happened . So, the more he let that guilt build up the more they became distant. When mom didn't see any hope for them she moved to los angeles. I chose to stay with mom at first but then she had moved on and started dating this guy named Eli and he didn't really show interest in me he just wanted to get into my moms pants , so I decided to move back In with my dad . Although I still visit my mom every other week.

"Hey, Tuck come down stairs your dads here." I heard my mom say which brought me out of my thoughts .

When I made it to the living room I saw my mom standing in front of the tv watching the news . While Eli was on a business call outback as I sat my bags down.

Breaking News: MINOR EARTHQUAKE DESTROYS HOOVER DAMN KILLING 1 AND INJURING MULTIPLE .

I didn't really pay it that much attention because earthquakes were like normal here. They were never really major.

"Hey, sweetie" my mom said

"Hey mom, where's dad at"

"He's out in the front "she said

"Okay"

I walked outside to my dads car and I  gave him a hug .

"Hey bud" he said hugging me back.

"So, you ready dad"  I said

"Listen bud that's the thing I wanted to talk you about. There was a big earthquake in Nevada, and my chief just called me in saying it's all hands on deck"

"Oh" is all I could say back.

" Look I know it's my week and I promised we would go hang out, so if you want me to tell my chief I can't then I will because your more important to me."

"No dad it's fine go save people, next time for sure though" I said lying

"Of course next time, i promise"

"Can you come in for a little bit before you go though"

"Of course". he said wrapping his arms around me as we walked in the house.

When we were inside Eli and mom were sitting at the dining room table.

"Hey, Mandy" dad said as he walked in

"Hey"

"Good to see you"he said as he gave her a hug.

"You too"

"Uh and you must be Eli" dad said opening out his hand too shake Eli's

"Ben I presume "

"Good to finally meet you" Eli said

"Good to finally meet you, too" dad said even though I could tell he was lying .

"This is quite the place you got here " dad said which was true because Eli owned a 2 story mansion in a gated area. Even if I didn't like the man I couldn't even lie to you because his house was pretty nice.

"Thank you" Eli said

"Um so dad has to go to Nevada tomorrow to help with the earthquake" I told mom

"Oh it's terrible what happened there" she said

" Please make sure you'll be safe out there. Okay?" She said to dad .

"We will I promise, and Bud I promise I'll make it up to you when I get back".

"Okay"

"Hey look um why don't I take you. I'm going to San Francisco for a meeting, but then after we can head straight to Seattle."Eli said

"It'll actually give us some time to bond. You can tell me about basketball and stuff."

As if that made things any better. It was supposed to be me and dad but instead it might be me and Eli.

Before I could kindly reject the offer, mom made the decision for me .

"Yeah, that will be a great idea"she said

My dad could tell that I didn't want to, but he wouldn't say anything because it was mom.

"And also that will give your mom a chance to move in all her stuff without us in the way" Eli said putting his arm around her.

I could see the disappointment in dads face, I think some part of him always thought they'd be together again by now.

"Right" she said nervously.

"So, you guys moving in" dad said looking from the both of them.

"Uh yeah , look Ben I was meaning to tell you, but we haven't had a chance to really talk" she said moving her hands nervously as she spoke

"Congratulations" dad said and I could tell he didn't mean it one bit.

"Thank you" they both said awkwardly

"Um look dad I'll call you when I make it okay" I said to break the awkward stares and silence.

" Yh okay Bud, I'll see you later okay. Love you" he said

"Love too" I said as he walked out, and mom followed him .

Ben POV:
" I'll grab his bike" i said trying to avoid Miranda as I walked out

" hey, I'm sorry you guys couldn't go up together" she said right behind me

"Yeah me, too" I said In a sarcastic tone.

"Ben.Benjamin"she said

Seeing that I couldn't ignore her anymore I eventually turned around.

"What Miranda" I said a little to harsh

"Really...."

"Look I'm sorry" I said as I placed the bike in front of her

"Ben look I was going to tell you I swear. We just literally decided to do it"

" Hey look your grown , I'm grown . You don't have to justify your self to me."

"Okay I just thought that since ..."

"And um look I'll make sure I get those divorce papers signed for you" I said cutting her off and getting into my car. Driving off leaving her standing in her thoughts.
