Chapter 4: Remember When...

Yeah guess what. You know how I said a bit of flashbacks... well I lied, there's gonna be a ton of flashbacks. Also a bit of the old chapter 4 is in here so yeah.

Flashback

"Hey!" I stopped dead in my tracks. I turned around and met up with a pair of brown eyes. "Hiro!" I ran over to him and hugged him, tighter than tight.

"Aunt Cass said we could head to the nerd school for a while." He smiled at me. "Okay." I shrugged.

I held his hand and we walked over to the school. We weren't dating but that wouldn't stop us.

Present

"Hiro, what took you so long?" Tadashi asked with his arms crossed. "Um..." I seriously didn't know what to say. "Hiro?" He asked sternly.

"I was looking around." I sort of fib. Cause hey I was looking around, technically.

"Alright, did you run into Y/N by any chance?" He asked walking into the kitchen. "Does it matter?" I asked putting the groceries away.

"Not really. But if you're gonna lie at least try your best to hide the fact you're lying."

He crossed his arms and went to the living room.

"Idiot." I mumbled to myself. After I put everything away I looked at the picture in the locket.

"Tadashi?" I called. "Yeah?" He answered. "I'm going out."

"Alright but be careful." He said throwing me my knife. I caught and said, "Okay."

I walked out the door stuffing the knife in my blue jacket. It's actually been a while since I wore it. I was also pretty surprised Tadashi let me go out. I know how over protective he is but luckily he wasn't today.

There were people fighting and others were sitting on the curb begging for food or money.

I just ignored them and kept on walking. I was headed to the burnt down school, SFIT. "You're here too, huh?" I turned my head and saw Y/N staring at the destroyed building.

"Yeah I guess." I replied walking over to her and sitting down on the same piece of cold metal she was sitting on.

"I still can't believe this small fire was the end of our friendship." Y/N said standing up and touching the burnt, soggy wood. And as she did ash and dirt would fall from it.

"Who said our friendship was over?" I smiled awkwardly.

"Hiro, we barely see each other again. It's been months since we've actually seen each other on purpose." Y/N sighed.

"If you join us we can see each other everyday." I said. "Look," Y/N sighed. "How many times do I have to tell you? I'm not joining you guys."

"I know but-"

"I'm sorry just no." Y/N sighed. She grabbed a F/C book bag from the floor and left. But then she stopped.

"If you ever need anything just come to my place." Y/N said before walking off.

"Well, can I go now?!" I yelled to catch her attention. She stopped and turned her herself around. "Sure." She shrugged. I smiled slightly and ran up to her, "Hey, thanks."

"Don't mention it." She smiled before grabbing my hand. I blushed lightly but kept on walking. Just like before.

"Sane!" I saw Y/N call out. She then let go of my hand and turned on one of the lights, though they were very dim.
"It feels cozy." I remarked. "Is that good?" She giggled. I stopped and looked at her. "What?" Y/N looked behind her and then at me. "You giggled." I said. "Oh, yeah." She smiled sheepishly. "It's cute." I smiled. "Thanks."

"Who's your boyfriend?" I looked behind Y/N and saw a little black skinned girl. "Hiro's not my boyfriend Sane. He's my... he's just here." She sighed.

"Sorry." She mumbled. "No its okay. You didn't know." Y/N smiled sadly. "Do you ever wonder how it would be like if this never happened?" Sane asked. "Sometimes..." I said. "Me too." She said. "Well I'm tired." Sane yawned. She walked out of the room as she said, "Goodnight."

"Y/N? Um... don't you consider me as a... a friend?" I asked sadly. "Hiro... I'm sorry but you should get going." She frowned. "I'll stay. You said, if I ever needed anything come to your place."

Y/N just looked at me with tears in her eyes. "Ta-Tadashi won't like it if you stay. He still worries for you." Her voice cracked a bit.

I looked down at the floor and then hugged Y/N before saying, see you later. I ran out of her house and back to mine.

I smiled a bit as Hiro hugged me... I missed him. Not just as a friend but as... family.

I sighed, it seems to be the only thing I'm good at these days. "I just want to protect them... but it's hard trying to be tough. I don't know what to do..." I whispered as a tear fell from my cheek... "I'm sorry..."

"It's not that I don't consider you I friend, it's that you'll be in danger with me." I cried....

"I don't seem to be in danger with you." I looked up to see Sane... She walked over and wiped my tears with her thumbs...

"It's okay to cry you know. Sometimes it helps. And hey, I'll protect you too." She smiled. I just hugged her and she hugged back. "Thank you." I whispered. "That's what friends are for..."

Omg! Update finally!! So I have yet to update my other stories so yep. Anyways! Hope you enjoyed this short chapter. Hope it kid of fills in a bit... I will be trying to update again!
