What made someone better than the other? Their quirk.
Living in a world where eighty percent of the world has a quirk of some kind, a genetic mutation of some sort, where some are dangerous and unpredictable and some are harmless and meek.
Where some decide to demonstrate their dominating power and terrorize others, some decide to save themselves the pain and just stay out of the way of the alphas.
The alphas of this world are the ones born with mighty quirks.
The ones who don't have a quirk, the very few people on this earth who are just ordinary human beings...
Those are the people whom are defenseless, whom are helpless, who always have to rely on someone else to come and save them; a hero.
They need a hero.
But not all heroes wear capes.
That girl that stopped him from doing something unmistakeable, something he would never be able to have back.
She didn't wear a cape. But All Might did.
But All Might wasn't there.
No, All Might ran away. All Might left him. He didn't know-
No.
He didn't care.
If he cared, he would've looked back. But he didn't. He didn't look back.
Dying.
The action terrified most, some just accepting it. It was apart of life, it happened to everyone eventually, and its inevitable, so why be afraid?
Death.
Oh, it sounded so pleasing to him. His ears experienced a blessing, his mind having a moment of europhia whenever he dare uttered the word from his lips.
Of course, he did so quietly. What would his mother think if she heard him? If she knew of his suicidal thoughts, of how dying sounded so pleasant to him?
What would his mother, the mother who didn't believe in him, the mother who cried because he didn't have one special thing, what would she say?
What would she say?
How would she react?
Those thoughts plagued his head at night. After his conversation with All Might, he didn't know what to think.
How is it he knew what others thought of him, but he didn't know what he thought of others?
He knows himself best, right? So, why is this so hard for him?
His mother doesn't know about Katsuki's bullying, she doesn't know about Izuku's constant state of suffering, she doesn't know how much her words hurt, she doesn't know anything.
He has no friends, no other family relatives. His dad had left for a business trip.
Dad left.
Kacchan left.
Who's next? Who's going to leave me?
Paranoia started to sink deep into his brain, doubs just floating around in the endless abyss of his mind.
His head kept drifting back to his conversation with All Might, wondering if what he said was true.
"Young man...you, too, can become a hero."
I've always wanted to hear those words, I begged for it every night under the moon...please let someone believe in me.
But I realized something.
He only told me I could be a hero after I saved Kacchan. He told me before...
That...
"Its not bad to dream, but you also have to consider what's realistic, young man."
He didn't believe in me. He didn't believe that a quirkless person, the so called 'worthless' of the bunch, could be a hero.
I couldn't be a hero.
A quirkless person can't be a hero.
Not unless they prove it. They have to prove they are worthy enough of even having a chance of becoming a hero.
How messed up is that?
The minute you show you have a good quirk, you'll immediately hear the words you can become a hero.
But not me.
Not the quirkless people.
It's like we're leeches, trying to suck off what little appreciation we can get.
Any positive comment.
Any praise.
It's so foreign to us. We're the ones who receive the most torment about something we can't control, we're the ones who need the heroes the most.
We were decided from the minute we were diagnosed as quirkless, that we had no shot at becoming a hero.
But the minute we do something heroic...we're suddenly qualifed?
How does that make any sense?
"Its not bad to dream, but you also have to consider what's realistic, young man."
How could...
"Young man...you, too, can become a hero."
How could his opinion change so quickly?
He...wasn't going to save Kacchan.
Not until I did something.
A quirkless boy, a 'defenseless' boy, a 'worthless' and 'helpless' boy rushed in to save a life while the number one hero was originally going to just sit and watch.
I thought he saved people with a smile, but he didn't even try to save anyone.
Why?
Why didn't he try?
