It had been just like any normal day. You had just finished your shift at the local clinic and headed back home of yet another day. Being a person with a healing quirk made becoming a nurse just second nature. You spent day after day helping people, it was something that you always adored. From patching boo-boos as a kid, to treating life threatening patients. No matter how much you've come to love it, it still gets tiring. You were already sprawled out across your bed exhausted from the constant running of the day when your roommate busted through your door, way too overly excited for you to even be able to handle.
"I don't even understand. Where did you even go about finding this?" You eyes felt like they were about to bulge out of your head. "A friend from class gave it to me. I think this would be perfect for you." You shook your head ferociously. "Have you ever met me? Do you seriously think I'd do something like this?" You pointed at the paper bewilderedly. " I work full time and the last thing I feel like I need is to add this to my plate."
"Win a date with Dynamite!" You read the paper that was handed to you by your roommate. "What even makes you think this is a good idea? It looks a little sketchy to me. What even makes you think this is actually the real Dynamite sending these out?" Your roommate, Meko, huffed, taking the paper from your hands. "You are NO fun! Live a little! All you do is work. This is the perfect opportunity for you to step out of your box. You won't know anything else you try."
"Yeah. I'm an adult. That's what you have to do in order to make a living, they work. And I am quite passionate about what I do. I thought that we've been over this before?" You pushed past her, heading to your living room and heading straight for the couch, hoping for just a little escape from this dreaded conversation. "Besides, have you ever seen Dynamite on TV? He's not easy to ignore. He's a super hot commodity around here. He's cocky and brash. The exact opposite of what I look for in a man. What even makes you think he'd be interested in someone like me? He's a Pro Hero, I'm just a nurse."
You honestly can't even remember the last time you've even been on a date or even looked at a person in a romantic way. You weren't afraid to admit that getting back in the dating scene made you nervous. You haven't tried in so long, you just feel like you'll never even find that spark with someone. Hell, you barely even remember what you truly sought for in a partner.
"I get it. You love what you do. I'm not judging you for that. I just wish that you realized there was more to life than just work. Maybe he's 'passionate' about what he does too. A girl with a healing quirk and a Pro Hero fighting villains. Something about that makes me think that you will suit each other well. C'mon Y/N, just give it a try. Who knows if you'll even win? If you don't enter the contest, I will."
You sighed heavily. She was in all ways right. You couldn't sit here and try to knock Dynamite. You've honestly admired his passion for working for years and would even like to think that's what motivated you so hard, even though in this moment, you weren't going to admit that. You could see his passion in wanting to be the best just in the way he talks. He's worked hard to get to where he is now.
Plus, there's probably plenty of women dying to get their hands on Number 2 Pro Hero, Dynamite. The odds of actually winning probably weren't there. "Fine. Give me the stupid paper." She waddled over, handing you the paper and took a seat next to you. You examined it once more, getting a proper look this time. It was riddled with pictures of the hero and as you got lower you noticed several questions and an address along with the words, "How to enter!"
Looking at the questions, you rolled your eyes, "Why in the world do people even want to know half of these things? These aren't your typical 'first date' questions." She handed you a pen and a piece of paper. "Quit asking the questions and just answer them. It's not that difficult and don't forget to add the picture of yourself before putting the questionnaire in the envelope."
"You mean, I HAVE to add a picture of myself too?" Your eyebrows furrowed as you started to get slightly irritated. "I wouldn't even be able to decide on a picture knowing someone is now judging based on my looks. Why would he even NEED to see me? Someone should just like me for who I truly am." She shook her head, getting up from her seat, running down the hall before quickly returning with pictures in hand. "I'm sure he'd love your personality. You're a catch. BUT... you're also hot and that should not be left out. I knew that it would be difficult for you, so I narrowed it down, these are a couple of my personal favorites."
You examined the photos, you had to admit, she picked some pretty good ones. All unfiltered to show your natural beauty, nothing too dramatic and modest as well. Just the typical "girl next door."
Your attention landed on a specific photo. One that brought you joy and told a story. You were sitting on a blanket in a field with Meko. It was around the time you all had first became friends and the day you actually decided to be roommates. The setting sun was just hitting you and the dress you were wearing perfectly and your curls were still held despite being out all evening. Meko said that she just had to get a picture and that you were literally "glowing."
It was one of your happiest of times and that's how you wanted everyone to see you. Just as you were in that moment.
"I knew you would pick that one! I never steer wrong." Meko squealed happily. "Now, get to writing, please! We can send it in first thing tomorrow on our way to run errands."
You grabbed the pen and began filling out the questionnaire.
Little did you know, your life was about to get a little more hectic.
