The first time he saw her again was the equivalent of getting hit by a car. Out of nowhere and incredibly painful. But the pain didn't come until after it had happened and he had had a chance to register it. How was he supposed to know she was back in town for her parent's thirtieth wedding anniversary and he would bump into her at Starbucks, the most cliche of all places.
How was he supposed to know that she still had the same beautiful dark brown, almost black, hair, except now the tips were purple.
How was he supposed to know that her blue eyes still reminded him of the crystal clear glittering lake they went to that one summer? How was he supposed to know?
Calum was never one for surprises. He didn't like surprise parties, they gave him anxiety. He didn't like not knowing what he was having for dinner that night. He didn't like not knowing the ending of the book and he definitely did not like seeing the love of his life in the middle of Starbucks after a year of absolutely no contact.
It had been a surprise when she left, and it had been a surprise when she came back.

Yay new story! I'm super excited about this and I'm really loving where this story is going.
Side note this story is written in a format where odd numbered chapters take place in the present tense and even numbered chapters take place in the past does that make sense I hope so if not feel free to message so I can clarify :)
Please vote comment whatever else there is it would mean a lot!! I'll be posting chapter one later tonight
Lots of love - katie
