Dream would never quite understand mortals and their weird customs. They were just so useless in the long run, so why would they bother with them?

Valentine's day.

Christmas.

Easter.

Ect.

Even birthdays, tho he could see why they would celebrate that one. Their existence was short and feeble after all, so why not celebrate it? They had survived another year on this earth designed to kill them.

Mortals. Dream decided were just not worth his time. He had lived a long time, had met and watched many mortals throughout his lifetime parish. Yet these humans intrigued him slightly.

They were invited to live on his lands, a safe haven from their own war ravished worlds, only to start their own war. Why? He was confused, they ran from war only to create more. Was it perhaps something all humans did?

Something they needed to exist maybe? Al tho that seem a bit counter intuitive, was it like food then? Did it feed them in a way human food never could?

Yes, dream thought, they were very interesting these humans.

When the first human he had let in his world in centuries immediately broke two of his three rules, he had assumed his fellow gods must have forgotten to tell it.

So when, even after he had warned the human child, he didn't stop his destructive behavior dream was confused. Had he maybe not been clear enough?

"Tommy, you can't just take George's stuff like that, it's stealing." The god tried to reason with the child.

"I'm not stealing! He's not using it anyway. Besides George isn't all there, his eyes don't work you know?" Tommy boasted.

"That's not-what?"

Tommy laughed loudly at the god's confusion, making his get away before Dream could say any more.

George had later told him it didn't really matter when Tommy took his stuff, he could always get more. Besides Tommy was just a child after all, they're known to be disobedient.

So he let it go. Even when Tommy destroyed land and buildings he brushed it off as the boy just being, well, a child. Dream used to think that 16 human years was old enough to live without parental supervision. But he guessed he must have been wrong.

The second human that he let in intrigued him even more. He didn't know it's connection to the human child but George had told him they were 'brothers'.

"It's kinda like you and Drista, Dream. You were created from the same energy but Drista was made much later than you were. Understand?" The colorblind man tried to explain.

"So Drista is my brother?" Dream asked.

George cringed slightly. He loved Dream, truly, but the man could be so clueless sometimes. God or not, Dreams mental understanding of things was concerning.

"No, No Dream. She would be your sister instead. If she was a boy then she would have been your brother. Get it?"

"I don't understand." Dream tilted his head like a confused puppy.

"Nevermind Dream." George sighed.

George was much more concerned about Dreams mental state then Sapnap was. The fire hybrid thought it was funny and would often try to mess with Dream. It's not like Dream minded really. He just didn't understand.

Wilbur had started out normal. At least Dream thought he was, he really didn't really know all that much about the man. He was Tommy's 'brother' which means they were of the same energy. But he didn't seem like the younger mortal at all.

AT FIRST.

The new human, Wilbur, was calm and collected. He liked Wilbur, he didn't go around destroying buildings or stealing George's stuff, he was nice. Wilbur didn't seek him out either, so he let him be.

That proved to be a mistake on his part. More people had been whitelisted and in the time it took him to really introduce himself to the new members Wilbur had had a son.

The young fox hybrid confused him even more. Where had he come from, he could have sworn that Wilbur had had a daughter first. Had she died? Was she taken by Sally when she was born? Then where did the new fox come from?

"Where? What do you mean where, Fundy's right here Dream."

"Fundy's a boy? I thought you said you had a daughter?" Dream asked.

Wilbur narrowed his eyes. He could not believe this man in front of him. How dare he call his son a girl. If Fundy wanted to be a boy then Fundy was a boy.

"Yes Fundy's a boy! Now i don't want to assume Dream, but that sounded rather rude you know? Fundy is a boy and he is my son, that's all you need to know."

And with that the man stormed of dragging his 5 year old son behind him. Dream blinked in confusion. As he stood there he wondered if maybe he made a mistake letting mortals in his world.

"But-I don't understand.."
