I had an idea.
Ali and Aleeah were with Corey this weekend.
I pulled in the driveway.
I walked in the house.
Leah was playing with Addie on the floor.
"Hey. I got an idea but it's a surprise. Mom is taking Addie for the night."
"Do I want to know?"
"That's the point of it being a surprise."
"Okay."
"Okay."
"I will give you one hint."
"Okay."
"Where I fell in love with you."
"That's not helpful."
I laughed.
"That's the point. You're not supposed to figure it out."
"I guess I'm just gonna have to wait."
"I guess you are."
"Is she really okay with taking Addie for the night?"
"Yes. She is always here. No offense to you or anything."
"I know."
"So, how is school going?"
"I passed the entrance exam. They already have my transcripts from before. I'm just enrolling in the same classes."
"Do not drop the classes this time."
"I'm not. I promise."
"You do something for yourself for once. Everything around here is for the girls and me."
"Yeah."
We both laughed.
I sat next to her on the floor.
Addie giggled, belly flopping across us.
"Ugh. Why do you keep doing that?"
"Sissy taught me."
"Of course Aleeah did. Since she's not allowed to do it anymore. She's too long."
I laughed.
"Well... The kids are getting taller. They need to stop growing."
"I know."
"But they're perfect."
"Yeah, they are."
"I hate Miranda. She keeps trying to take over my place. You get it. You acknowledge the fact that Corey is their Dad. You don't try to replace him. She's such a--"
Leah covered Addie's ears.
"Bitch."
"I know."
She uncovered her ears.
"Can't say that to her face though. She goes and tells Corey. Corey starts complaining."
"I know."
"You don't do that with me. If he says something to you. You handle it yourself. She won't. Cause she's scared of me. She just won't admit it."
"Hell, sometimes you scare me."
Addie laughed, jumping on Leah and me.
"You're gonna see Grandma soon."
