Long lost

One day, at the squad treehouse....

"You never told me you were a rescuer! what did you do?" Crystal asked enthusiastically.

"Uhmmmm...." Speedy replied nervously.

"C'mooooon tell me! pleeeaaasseee?" Crystal begged.

Speed let out a sigh.

"It depended on what missions we got. sometimes we had to retrieve something, sometimes we had to fight and capture an outlaw. The rewards were pretty good though." Speed answered.

"Why'd you become a rescuer? Trace said that he became one with you to escape his dad's shadow." Crystal asked.

"Yeah... He kinda used me initially to become one.... as for why i became one, i figured i could find our parents if i became a rescuer. Thats partially how I found out mom was still alive." speed replied.

"Did you do anything interesting as a rescuer?" Crystal asked.

"Weeelll.... I managed to meet a manaphy and jirachi." Speed replied

"you met jirachi?!!?" Crystal asked, amazed.

"Yup. we were lucky he had reached the end of his millennial slumber. I.... ended up with a healing factor. Trace actually managed to find a loophole and wished for jirachi to have normal sleeping times." Speed replied.

"That's so cool!" Crystal exclaimed.

"Hey, that reminds me. Trace said he revived someone with jirachi. apparently it was black's brother. did you know him?" Crystal asked.

"Wait, trace did that? I thought jirachi couldn't revive dead people!" Speed replied.

"Trace said jirachi kinda lied to you. I didn't believe it at first, but Trace talked about how he hadn't been able to find him. Maybe you should check for yourself." Crystal suggested.

"Maybe i should.... I'll be right back." Speed replied, getting up and leaving.

"Hey, you're just gonna leave like that?!" Crystal called out, to no avail.

"Typical Red... I guess i'll check on Silvia and Lazuli." Crystal sighed.

Later, in Plasma city...

Speed walked up to trace's house and pressed the doorbell. soon, Trace opened the door.

"Oh hey Speed, need anything?" Trace asked.

"Crystal said you revived frost a few years ago. Is that true?" Speed asked.

Trace took a moment to answer.

"Yeah... It is. I'm sorry for hiding it from you. To be honest, I actually told turbo about it. he vowed to find him, but he got wiped because of shade..." Trace said.

Speed was stunned by this revelation.

"I think i have a lead though. one of my dad's friends has an assistant named Shard. Dad tells me that this... Shard... reminds him a lot of frost. i think we've found him, but i'm not sure..." Trace said.

"We have to try... otherwise it might slip away... who knows what would have happened if i kept quiet about my mom..." Speed said.

"Are you going to break the news to him?" Trace said.

"I.... I'm not sure. It might make him more moodier.... especially since he witnessed what happened firsthand." Speed replied.

"You really should. He deserves to know. I'll tell my dad when he comes back." Trace said.
