No one moved until Morgan. She got up and flicked on the lights. I didn't even realized I was crying, but I was. Everyone was sat in shock, more or less. Morgan seemed to be the only one who was trying to pursue past it.
She suddenly snapped her fingers in front of my face.
"Jen! Hey! We have to go!"
She started to walk around the room and snap the others out of their shock saying we had to leave. She went to the twins and Loren last and seemed flustered as she woke Loren up. I laughed a little despite what had just happened. It was very clear Morgan had a crush on him. Who wouldn't?
"A quick thing Morgan. How are we supposed to get out?" Cooper asked "The door has been locked from the outside!"
I thought about this and looked to Morgan for some extra help. Morgan was thinking about it more deeply, because she was wearing her puzzle face. Suddenly, Morgan slapped the table next to her.
"I know what to do!"
I watched Morgan run to the door and pull out an oddly-shaped box. I walked up to her and saw closely what it was.
"Morgan, that's your science project."
She started picking away at the mechanism inside the box with a bobby pin "I know. But, we can use it to unlock the door as long as it doesn't move from this spot when I set it off."
When Morgan set off her project, she ran back to the group. I grabbed her around the shoulders and pulled her around. The project went off and we only looked back at it when we heard a loud crash. The door lay, crumpled, on the floor. We ran out into the hallway and started making our way to the hangar.
Lila grabbed my hand as we were running, which I didn't say anything against. We got on one of the planes and fastened ourselves tightly into the seats. Morgan climbed into the pilot's seat and started flicked switches and pressing buttons and pulling levers.
The plane suddenly came to life and Morgan took off rather fast. Lila squeezed my hand. I felt something explode below us and shut my eyes tightly as the plane shook violently. Lila squeezed my hand more, but in a comforting way.
____
I must've fallen asleep, because when I opened my eyes again, I had forgotten we were flying. I unfastened my seatbelt and started walking around. Walking over to Morgan, who had put the plane in autopilot, I asked her:
"Where're we headed, Morg?"
She looked up at me "The summer home." she answered shortly.
I nodded. The summer home. It wasn't really a summer home. Morgan and her family never went there. They were often too busy to go there. Morgan didn't really like it, either. She was more of a city gal and the summer home was kind of secluded in the woods.
The plane landed and we all got off. We rushed into the house and plopped ourselves down in different spots of the living room. Morgan, Kayla, Lila, and I sat down on the couch. Cooper and Cassie sat together on an armchair. The Asgardians slid down the wall and sat on the floor. Olivia and Sam sat in a corner, a little further from us.
"What's our plan?" Tabitha asked "We've gotta have a plan to save our parents, right?"
"Yeah." Tyler and Loren nodded in agreement.
Everyone was silent, but I'm pretty sure several eyes went directly to Morgan. She lifted her chin and did her best to sound brave. But, she burst into tears.
"I don't have a plan! Ask Jen! She could make one better than I could!"
Morgan ran out of the room. I sat on the couch, surprised. Morgan hated admitting she wasn't the best in the room. If she did, she would have to be REALLY stressed out.
"So, what's our plan?" Olivia asked.
I sighed and left to go talk to Morgan. The dark haired girl had ran off to the garage, where she was tinkering with a suit. She was facing away from the doorway, but her shoulders were shaking. I walked over to her and placed my hand on her shoulder.
"Hey. Morg? You wanna talk about what just happened just now?" I asked.
She looked at me "Jen! You heard everything in there! Yes, okay, I think you're a better leader than me! Yes, I think I would lead everyone to their doom! I just don't want to lose anyone because I could screw up!"
She collapsed into my chest and clutched my shoulder blades so tightly, her nails started digging into my skin. I ran my hand through her hair.
"Hey. Morg. It's okay. Everything's okay."
Morgan sniffed and I was a little grossed out when she looked back up at me with some snot running from her nose. I took a tissue and wiped it away. Morgan sighed.
"I'm sorry, Jen. I just don't like pressure."
I smiled and caressed her cheek "Hey, Morg. It's okay. And you said before, that you believe me to be a better leader than you. Any reason why you think that?"
Morgan looked up at me "You know what you're doing! You've been on missions!"
"So have you." I told her.
Morgan shook her head "But, you still have more mission experience. You can give-"
I laughed before she finished her sentence "Don't say I know how to give orders. I don't. Mom gives the orders and I follow."
Morgan stared at me "What do you mean? You great at giving orders."
"I'm great at passing along orders." I verified.
Morgan looked back at the suit on the table, then she looked at me with a wide smile and crazy eyes.
"I have a plan."
