"how's the meeting, hm?" renjun asked as they were on their way to mark's house. the asked boy just stared in the emptiness of the afternoon to night time sky, following the chef who led him.
"hello? jaemin? you okay?""huh?" he snapped to reality after jaemin slightly shook his shoulder.
"oh yeah, i'm okay.""you seem a bit off. are you sure everything is okay?"
"totally. i'm fine." jaemin assured the younger with a big smile. renjun smiled back, not knowing that the smile the latter was giving was fake.
they were now near mark's house, jaemin sighing and renjun fixing some of the things he was bringing. the two then entered the house after knocking on it a few times.
"you really don't have to bring too much food in, jun. i can cook too you know." mark rolled his eyes playfully as renjun handed him a whole bag of dinner and for breakfast. the three talked for a bit, catching up on some stuff and laughing at their own jokes. the next thing they knew, they were covered in silence. jaemin then looked up to the two.
"something's wrong, isn't it jaemie?" mark spoke up and jaemin sighed again.
"will i be able to go back like i use to again? what if i can't get the amulet?"
"you will, jaem. don't worry too much." this time renjun went near the taller male and patted his back. he gave the two a little smile, making them smile too in response. jaemin was extremely grateful to have met the two and get help from them, although he never expected that these two are the people he have met in real life. it applies to the king as well, making him believe that there is always something magical in this world.
that night they had a great dinner, stuffing their stomachs until they feel full and sleeping peacfully.
around midnight, jaemin still couldn't sleep and he didn't know the reason why. he was feeling anxious, maybe, that he may not come back to the present time. his eyebrows then furrowed due to the ruffling sound on the roof just above his head that just appeared so suddenly. he sleepily turned on the small cande torch and rubbed his eyes, standing up from his bed and going outside to check what the sound was. there he saw a familiar eagle pecking on the wooden plank of the house.
"hey hey! stop that, birdie!" jaemin slightly whisper shouted so as to not wake up their neighbors and the two males who were still sleeping soundly inside. the eagle immediately stopped and flew its way over to jaemin, waiting for him to let out his hand and landing on it after. he saw a scroll and took it, letting the eagle fly away again. jaemin smiled, knowing the symbol on the eagle's collar was the king's. he opened the note and saw the familiar writings on it.
'sleep tight, you'll need it tomorrow. bearkfast is on me so come to the castle with chef huang tomorrow'
"that's... interesting." jaemin mumbled to himself but shrugged afterwards, smiling to himself as he stepped inside the house and neatly folding the scroll. he then placed it on the table nearby and climbed back to his comfort on the bed. he blew the candle off and closed his eyes to drift of to day dream.
