Reminding yourself of the flabby suface of the matress you rest on, deemed useless. Why must that blow do much to your back... It was fault of yours that branched from a shabby idea of having to take out all the agents that housed the cloning room in one go, forgetting about their use of grenades and such. Now it seems you can't even run as fast as you could when in prime, nor even get out of bed. Shame, but it was all yesterday so today being worse means that tomorrow might get better...

Right?

Nope.

It was the same thing all over again, but this time it got worse. It looks like the trio had a current mission in queue, which was finishing what you started. It turned out there were more cloning facilities scattered in Nevada, so it was their job to end the mass production of artificial life forms that came in grunts, agents, A.T.Ps and whatnot. It was a miracle one decided to be left behind for the time being.

"Good morning, sunshine. How was your back doin'?" You could hear the sound of your boyfriend's himbo-like voice near your bed. Sure, he's a meathook-wielding mercenary fighter who could extinct a whole room in seconds, but serious in his role in love. It's rare to be in love in Nevada nowadays, so both of you are a rare pair. Deimos has a love interest, but jesus, they're really clingy to the point Hank lead him to a lone mission once and came back crying in his lover's feet of relief that she was safe. It's good he'd throw himself for her, but still, he's going a bit too fast in their relationship, which made Sanford cringe a bit just by thinking.

"Not good. I bet you are." You smiled back as he chuckled.

"Need anything?" You could feel him inching a bit closer to you, just in case it was him you needed.

"Nothing else. Just want company." You responded as you felt a calloused hand near your neck.

"I can help regain your posture. Or I'd say try." You needed that so bad, but you just wanna lay in bed the whole day.

"Thanks, Sanford. But I'm too tired."

There were a few things he could do despite your minimal movement.

"I'll get something real quick ok? You might like it." He said as he pecked your forehead and stood up leaving the room.

Maybe Deimos was right when both of you would turn out best for each other. Ever since you worked for the A.A.H.W. and deserted the institution along with Deimos, he tried his best efforts in making him yours, but failed as you took his corny flirtatious remarks satire.

Sanford, on the other hand, was confident and all-eyes serious in battle. When both of you go into missions together, it seems like you two know what's going on, as he was always trailing first while you're behind him. Whenever the bullet grazes on lands on your skin, he was the medic and would raid the first-aid kits in the hallways just to make sure you get bandaged properly. If that's not dedication and devotion, then I don't know what is.

And truly he was perfect for you.

As you were about to doze off, the sound of the door's hinge could be heard, as Sanford brings in a mug and spoon.

"You'll love this, sweetheart."

You assumed it was gonna be a cup of warm cocoa or coffee, but it was none of the above as you looked closer, still confused.

"The Bakery had this stuff that was common in other states but new here. I thought you might like it because you said that Nevada lacked some sugar, right?" He said as he sat down in bed again, takig a small scoop of the food, carrying the flavors to your mouth.

"Tell me if it's too cold alright?"

Cold???

It didn't matter, curiosity got the best of you as you tasted what the spoon had to offer. Sanford smiled as he saw a bright reaction to what you tasted.

"It's Gold Medal Ribbon ice cream! I thought only one store had this!" You exclaimed as you gently grabbed the mug from your lover's hands and began devouring on that sugar. Even then, good things can happen in Nevada. Just in certain moments.

"I never had any, but I bet it's delicious." Before he could respond, you immediately jumped on his arms, chests collide, lips passionately touch. Gold Medal Ribbon inhabited your lips, but Sanford could finally understand why you loved it so much.

As you both let go, shock from your back jolted you up again in agony. The kiss made you forget about it for seconds though... Sanford was in the nick of time of catching you in his reach, his heartbeat dominant near your head while his freehand massaged your back gently. It was nice to see some tissues pop therapeutically.

"It'll be fine, sweetheart. It hurts a bit, but you'll need to charge up so we go on missions together."

Definitely you weren't flushed by his words.

"Ow ow ow! Sanford can you be a bit more gentle?" You shrieked as if a thousand thumb tacks pierced your skin, deeper.

"Wasn't I already gentle enough." He chuckled while you plastered an awkward grin on your face. But admit, you're the heavy sleeper, so you could feel your senses numbing slowly as you drift to slumber again. He's such a dork and you love him for that.

Realizing that you're asleep, Sanford slowly slouched a bit, making sure your head gets comfy on his pectoral, left hand on your thigh and free hand playing with your hair and arranging it, making sure that pretty face of yours was visible to his naked eye.

"Sanford, you should sleep too..." You mumbled as you were half-awake. An early bird has the right to mess their schedule even though they don't.

But he loves you so much it wouldn't burden buying more minutes for extra sleep.

"Not if you sleep first."

"Fine, promise?"

"Promise." He chuckled as he pecked your forehead again if that will shut you up, in a good way. He could feel your hand near his packed stomach, symbolizing you slept. Looks like it's his turn.

"It's not yet night, but sleep tight, sweetheart." He kissed your forehead once again and adjusting himself so that both parties feel at ease in position.

"Love ya..." He whispered as he as well drifted himself to sleep.

"Man I feel bad for you, Hank. Get a love life like geez, you might get gloomy and at least a lady you cherish might cheer you up." Deimos jeered as the watch the scene unfold, you and Sanford asleep in bed.

" I don't need one. " Hank said as Deimos tried to hold his laughter. But dig deep inside the closed man and what supposed to be nothing but the thrill of fight also seemed to have a little space of curiosity as to what affection is. Why his buddies were always living their lives like it's short and not shorter.

But to him, you and Sanford were a good example. A slow, steady, but faithful and cute couple.

Definitely Deimos was right.
