Notes on Costuming (in no particular order)

Cheshire Cat- This can be the most complicated part of the show. The Cheshire is modeled off of Alice in Wonderland’s Cheshire Cat. She should have a long, shabby hooded cloak, and a makeshift wand staff. Cat ears and a tail are also essential. Make-up-wise is optional, however, a creepy toothy smile is this character’s trademark. The mouth should cover the actor’s mouth and neck. Fake pointed teeth should come from across the upper lip and up from the collar bone. If the actor has a microphone, hide it under the teeth. She should also have scars on her face that symbolize her death from a car crash.

Mad Hatter- The Hatter is based on the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland. He should have a pompous dress coat and a high-top hat. His look should also include a long white wig done in a simple side pony. Optionally, there can also be a heavenly-looking symbol on the middle of his forehead. This actor’s makeup should be simple and his outfit easy to change out of so he can easily change into Aaron Miller’s simple look.

Aaron Miller- When on the scene of the crime he should wear a modern investigator’s uniform. In other scenes, he should be business casual with a dark color palette.

Crime Scene Supervisor- wears an average police/investigator uniform

The Queen of Nothing and Nowhere- This luxurious Queen should have a sparkly golden Greek robe, as well as golden and white makeup to make her look more like a spirit. An actress with long curly hair is preferable.

Paris Travers- A man of simple taste, you can dress him up or down. The only thing worth noting is that he should have a costume change from the first time we see him to the next. Preferably, save his more fashionable outfit for Act III Scene III.

The Queen’s Guards- See recommendations for creatures, but more specifically they should match her golden and white color scheme. They should also carry long white spears to present their authority.

Creature Actors- These costumes can be up to artistic interpretation. However the idea is glowing fairy-like creatures. They should resemble things like mushrooms and flowers or be completely abstract. For the most impactful effect, use glow-in-the-dark body paint on the creatures and the scenery. This gives an otherworldly, negative feel. Make sure these actors have diverse physical acting skills as they don't have lines.

Investigators- They wear standard first responder and investigator uniforms

City Folk- Average street clothes
