After George finally moved into Dream's house a couple of months ago, the three of them found this routine of sorts.

Sapnap, even as he made a great effort to match the other's persevering insomnia, eventually gave up and stopped letting Dream and George destroy his sleep schedule, even as he still went to bed at a completely unearthly hour.

Then, as soon as Sapnap took his leave, this little charade began, where Dream and George, now left alone, would both swear they were going to bed, claiming they were completely utterly exhausted, though, of course, Dream always thought of something they had to talk about right before they parted, extending their time together, just naturally drifting and moving until they ended up here, Dream finding himself in the same place almost every night, on George's bed.

They usually kept themselves up so late, most of their conversations ended in near delirium.

And, that's exactly what they were nearing currently, with George attempting to persuade Dream to stay the night in his room, just this once.

"You never stay over, why?"

Dream cast a wary glance at him, "Because my room is literally right next door. There's no reason for me to stay."

George pouted exaggeratedly."But, what if I want you to?"

"I just don't see the point, George. What are we gonna do, make out?" Dream joked, with a quick roll of his eyes.

George couldn't help the smile that formed on his face at Dream's words. "I dunno," he giggled. "Maybe."

Dream just shook his head in playful disappointment, starting to get up from the bed, this being his cue to actually go to his own room before they slipped into any dangerous territory. But, George stopped him, tugging Dream back. "Nooo, don't leave. Don't we have a little more time?"

Dream let out an exasperated breath, a little uncertain about what he should do as George had never done this before, whining about him staying. Though George could be already pretty shameless normally, he was especially bold in his sleep deprived state.

Which always left Dream at a loss. And, often, he had to fight with himself to not give in to any of George's demands.

Dream tried not to think too hard about what their relationship was, how much everything between them was blurred together with friendship and anything else beyond that.

Sure, they joked with these dumb flirtatious remarks and they were shipped by pretty much their whole community and even some of their friends, but, it wasn't like that.

At least, when George lived on the other side of the world, that's what Dream thought. Now, actually being here with George in person, the already nearly nonexistent line was rapidly disintegrating.

Though, they absolutely never talked about it. A large part of the reason for that being was that Dream didn't want to know.

Now, with George settled permanently in his house, Dream wasn't willing to risk anything. What they were to each other should stop right here, as platonic best friends.

Adding any more feelings into their relationship was only going to make everything complicated and messy, especially if it didn't end up working out.

So, Dream made sure to keep them at a respectable distance just in case, his cautiousness fading as he became more certain George was on the same page as him.

But, Dream sometimes questioned the intention of George's occasional far too sincere jokes, if their closeness indicated more, if the whole thing they could fall into was just inevitable.
