Chapter 2: Ray: Into the Tunnel
I look up.
"So, how are you doing this Wednesday morning?" she asks in her usual sassy way.
"Meh, I'm good."
"Do you ever think we're going to escape this nightmare and go back home?" she jousts at me.
"For the last time, I don't think we are!" I retort.
"Then how come Armana never found this tunnel to begin with, w-we could use it to escape!" Kiera launches.
Level 11 passes.
After that, we sit in silence for the rest of the way down to level 5. I slowly lean my head against the polished tunnel and breathe a sigh of relaxation. This kinda felt like a second home to me no matter what. Sure, I've missed home, but I've gotten used to life here. I got the chance to have an adventure like the stories I once read in books.
"Ray! Level 5! Full speed ahead!" Kiera says, yanking me out of my daydream.
I look down. Gasp! Here we go. As soon as I get close enough, I grab both handles leading to the hole and swing my legs in. I scurry into the tunnel and look back. Kiera throws me the rope, then her pale hands appear and push herself into the tunnel.
A/N: Yes. You heard that right. That was my attempt at a sassy character. Let me tell you re-reading the beta version of Level Up had me laughing psychotically at my old writing.
