Stepping stones

The night had already set in. The sun wasnt even visible and the temperature was dropping steadily. Outside of the car, my Mother and my brother are still argueing. Through the car I cant hear much. Loud noises and finger pointing is mostly what I make out. I open the car door a smidge. I was sitting in the back on the left hand side so it was easy to hear what was going on, sunce that is where the fighting took place. I lean on the door and listen as the arguement becomes clearer.

"Get in the car Tavis!" my mother screamed.

"I have homework to do. I don't eant fo go to Derick's." He replies.

"Well you cant stay here. Now get in the car."

The arguement continues with my brother, Tavis, approaching Mother for the keys to the house. I wstch the arguement continue and then let my gaze shift over to my little brother sitting next to me. He is playing on his phone not watching the argueing. Suddenly I hear a scream and whip my head over to see me brother stumble backwards over the curb, which our car was parked against, and slam into the car door. He then hits the asphalt parking lot floor. Through the crack in the door I hear him crying in pain.

"Now get in the car."
I whip my head around to see my infruiated mother coming over to my fallen brother. Rage I've never known surges into me. I bust the boor open and tackle my mother into the car next to us. Immediatley she starts screaming. I grab her shirt and pin her to the car. Seconds later my little brother is clawing and scraping my back trying to get me off of her. While his assult continues I hear my Dad getting out of his own car.

"What did you do Clover?" He shouts, looking my brother's woumds over. My Stepmom had exited the same car as well. She replaces my Dad at my brother's side. My Dad shouts for me to release my Mother and I release my grip of her. Instantly she grabs her phone and calls the cops.

And ever since that day I never saw my mother again.
