|chapter tws: HUGE mentions of overdose!!, mentions of rape, kidnapping/abduction, murder, mentions of death or near-death situations|
Hundreds of people's attentions were dug deep into the case. The time on the clock was 3:35 pm, meaning that everyone had just about 11 hours before their victim would be pronounced dead. While not everybody was inside of the same room, all of the authorative figures stood in the front of one large space, working on their own individual things like the others were. Hotch, Gideon, and the head of the police department conversed about their thoughts and theories. JJ and Morgan were taking notes on whatever their brains came up with, and every other police officer was doing as they were expected to. They were trying their hardest to save a woman before it was too late.
The room wasn't silent, or loud. It had a reasonable volume. Some whispers could be heard, other noises were chatter, pencils scraping, papers printing, or the occasional door closing from one of the other rooms in the building. There weren't any rules of where people had to be, so some lingered in the halls, or in their personal offices. Wherever they worked best, they were at.
Meanwhile, Elle and Reid just decided to join everyone back in the room. After facing an emotional moment, they gathered themselves well enough so the millions of profilers wouldn't be able to tell that they were even gone. And, with the pressure of the situation, luck was on their side. They both re-entered the room, getting straight back to working hard like everybody else, and it went completely unnoticed.
Time passed, and while some progress was being made, it wasn't much. It certainly wasn't enough for them to actually save a life, or prevent the murders from happening this point on. Nobody had a clue as to who the killer may be, where they may be located, or what their next plan would be. And that was all they really needed to complete their pending mission.
They were stuck with barely anything to work with. Time wasn't on their side, and neither was their heads. If they kept moving at this rate, people would die. But it wasn't like they could change their speed. There was nothing that they could do at this point, except try. And that's what everyone knew that they would do, whether it was successful or not. They would use whatever they have, and try.
"I have an idea." An agent chimed from one of the many desks in the room. Whatever noises were being made silenced themselves, and the attention was grabbed instantly. It didn't take long before the agent began to elaborate on said idea. "We said that the killer was looking for specific types of women, and not repeating them?"
"There aren't any poor women. People from such bad homes, that they ended up bad aswell. There are many fast food places in the radius, but only six of them within a forty-minute drive of here have been hiring within the past nine months." The male agent finished.
Because everybody was listening carefully, they started jotting that down in their notes, even if the idea wasn't perfect.
"We'd have to dial it down a bit more," Gideon added from where he stood, and his eyes never left the man who'd said the statement.
"Actually, sir, we did." A woman now spoke from behind the other agent, the man who had just contributed to the group discussion. "Out of those six buildings, two of them recently accepted women under 21 as new workers."
JJ was the first person to have a physical reaction to this news, as her eyes widened almost immediately. "That fits the profile perfectly. Victimology is 15 to 23."
"So, we need to find those women, quick." Looking at the clock, Jason realized that now they only had nine and a half hours left. Would that be enough time, or would they lose the woman they were fighting for?
---
The room was still dark, with only one light being the source. At this point in time, the light was flickering ever so slightly, and it was dim. After being in the room so long, the girl felt as though the walls were caving in on her. The whole world was. She felt trapped in this place. Stuck.
