1996 Dubai,Ohio
Monday august 18th
The Ball House
It's that time of year again time to survive junior year at Dubai county high school says Antonio ball a light skinned, six foot loser who's packing his bag to get ready for school also wearing a college sweatshirt a college that no one in this town knows the name of in South Carolina. I Just got to get good grades so I can get out of this tumble weed infested town he says. From downstairs Antonio hears his mom yell "Antonio I'm leaving here in five minutes with or without you" coming mom Antonio yells back as he finishes packing his backpack and head down stairs. As Antonio is walking he smells something delightful smells good mom what are you cooking ask Antonio?
We see Antonio's mom standing in the kitchen wearing and apron and watching the news she's a middle age,White,stay at home mom I'm cooking super for tonight we are having chicken casserole she says. Again? Asks Antonio life's been hard on Antonio and his mother ever since his father died from lung cancer last year chicken casserole was his favorite dish is wife made him so Antonio and his mother have been eating eating it at least two or three times a week since his passing. So are you excited for school to start back? Asks Antonio's mom who's trying to change the subject before she beats the ever living shit out of her son yea I guess I just hope I can do good this year. Says Antonio who looks down at his sweatshirt which clearly reads college of daltson,SC on it "look I know you miss him I do too but we can't let this destroy our lives" says Antonio's mom you'll be in South Carolina soon enough and you're father and I will both be proud of you. Antonio's mother and father met at the college of daltson both studying literature to become author's Antonio plans to attend there to also study literature and becomes great author just like his dad. Yeah I guess you're right says Antonio we better get going so I'm not late he grabs his toaster tart and lunchbox sitting on the counter and they both head for the door but right before Antonio can open the door they over hear on the television "breaking news another little girl has been kidnapped by the mysterious figure taken to the closest alleyway and killed her but not before playing a practical joke by giving her an explosive jack in a box." Who would do such a horrible!? thing I'm glad you're almost out of this godforsaken town says Antonio's mom. Well said mom they finally head to school.
