(TW: mentions of death)
There was no collision in sight.
Lighting struck. Blinding white light engulfed every inch of him. He could see his eyes, shining, hysterical as they shrunk.
The floor wasn't crumbling beneath his feet.
Thunder boomed in the distance. It rang through his ears, he could hear the shrieks of that day. More than a dozen dead to society. To him, everything... Yet the world kept spinning.
This wasn't the end of the world.
Or so it seemed. Sirius mused, pacing, all alone in his cell. He has been so stupid to trust that bloody rat. Too stupid. He ended up killing his friends.
He slammed his fist into the wall, a fire coursing through him. Yet, he shivered from the numbing cold of the Dementors.
He kicked, thrusting his body against the hard cement, feeling the pain of when he apparated back to Godric's Hollow. Back to the image of Jame's face; lifeless at the door. Lily; Peter; Harry nowhere. He sucked in a breath and felt wood creak underneath him. He looked around, and was met with the horryfing appearance of James' and Lily's living room. The wood in the chimney was crackling, blankets sprawled over the couch, and their dinner was still displayed on the kitchen counter. They were enjoying their night together.
He took a step backwards, and then touched the wood again. He looked back down... the body was only a meter away from him.
But it couldn't be. This wasn't happening again. This was not the real James, and he was not screwing everything up again.
He ran over to the kitchen... Living room... Definitely upstairs. Yes. Upstairs in their room.
"JAMES! COME OUT NOW! THIS ISN'T FUNNY!... LILY! FUCKING COME OUT HARRY!"
No, they're in Harry's room of cour- the wall was gone, burnt.
"Lils... oh my go-"
He dropped to the floor, almost as if underwater, unable to think, to breathe.
This couldn't be-
No.
She was next to the crib, tear-stricken face; paled. Dead.
"NO!"
His vision went black. Surely this was the end of the world.
.
He saw a jet of red light and cackling laughter. "You have to mean it, Bella, like THIS!"
The world dissolved again.
He was standing back on the clock tower courtyard. Hogwarts. Remus' lost expression pierced his soul in the moonlight. He wasn't making eye contact.
"I- I could have killed him, Sirius... How- Why... How could you?"
He shut his eyes, scraping his nails through the wall behind him.
His body shivered and shook with the coldness of his surroundings. Convicted for the murders he has as good as did.
This. This was the end of the world.
."... God, you're so dramatic." It was James' voice. Sirius jerked up at the sound. But the space was pitch black.
"You're doing it again, blaming yourself for things you can't control."
A small flame lit up the air, revealing James lighting a cigar. But he didn't have the somber look he's been carrying. He seemed younger, fresh out of school. If not... still in it?
The darkness dissolved into a thick fog that swirled away. This was the Gryffindor common room. Sirius watched James pace from the sofa. And there was no one else, they were alone.
James took a drag of smoke, slowly letting it out as his eyes searched the floor.
"You know we'll always be here, right? To fix your messes with you?"
Sirius gripped his knees. Mixed feelings pooled his stomach from the caring tone, the desperate eyes and anxious way his friend bit his lip. He was worried about him. The traitor.
He stared down at his hands as James took the spot on the sofa next to him.
"I will always be here for you."
