The Struggle

Glacierford, nestled within the Frostbourne Tundra, is a large, walled village. Snow was slowly decreasing in size as the winter was coming to an end. Rain stood just before a snowman that the town's children created, he was talking to someone when his girlfriend, Abigail, ran up to him, almost completely out of breath.

"Zombie. Over there. It got Oscar." She said panting through breaths. Rain didn't say anything, he gave her a look and then ran over to where she pointed, Abigail following closely.
There Oscar was, standing with fear painted on his face as he held out his hand trying to avoid touching the bite mark. Rain kneeled next to the zombie and was careful not to touch the undead creature as Abigail and Oscar's friend Zach stood just behind him.

Mist fell over the land as day became night. Zombies were slowly flooding out from the woods, dragging their lifeless, cold bodies through the thin layer of snow on the ground. The people inside the walled village had no knowledge of this. They trusted that the wall and the traps set would keep them safe.
Camyo and Zach stood outside Oscar's house, talking and waiting to see if he was going to be okay with the bite from earlier. The click of the door seemed to go unnoticed by the two, but when Oscar stood outside, he launched himself towards someone and latched onto their neck, corrupting them into the undead. Zach and Camyo watched what happened and saw how quickly the living turned to the undead.
Robin ran through the village, yelling out to anyone who wasn't infected. His bow in one hand and arrows in his bag clanged together as he scrambled to run faster. Abigail wasn't like him though, she didn't run from the zombies, she stayed and waited to be surrounded by zombies so that she could kill what she could with her bow and arrow.

Some zombies were fast and others were slow. Abigail ran as fast as she could towards the gate that was quickly closing on her. As the gate nearly hit the ground, she dove under it, sliding onto the other side where Rain, Zach, Camyo and Robin waited.

"You were cutting it close Abi." Rain said sticking out his hand to help her up.

"Sorry, I got caught up killing innocent people that were zombified."

The five of them travelled all night and got far from the village. They didn't have many supplies with them, so it wouldn't be long before the zombies eventually caught up. Rain stopped walking for a moment before Abigail turned around and called him to keep walking. They walked across a frozen river that was surrounded by snow. It got to the point where they needed to stop and rest as they had been walking all night and most of the next day. The five of them built a small campsite with one tent and a small fire. Abigail sat close to the fire with Rain standing next to her.

The day turned to night quicker than they realized and the sound of groans and bones rattling filled the air, surrounding them in every direction. Robin, armed with a bow and arrows and Zach armed with a spear, closely watched the empty land in front of them, waiting for something to happen. There was a silent twang of string being pulled and the next moment, Robin had an arrow sticking out of his head. Zach dropped his spear and covered his head. He looked back and fear itself was painted on his face as Robin lay almost completely lifeless. Zach wasn't paying attention to what was happening in front of him and was scared half to death when someone appeared in front of him. It didn't take long for Zach to realize it was Herobrine who was standing in front of him. Armed with a diamond pickaxe, Herobrine launched himself forward, driving his pickaxe through Zach.
Zombies, skeletons, spiders, and creepers were closing in on them with some of the zombified village people attacking them as well. Camyo did his best to fend off the zombies but an unexpected bite to the neck ended his life.

Rain, covered in blood stood opposite Herobrine. His piercing white glowing eyes could kill most people with fear but not Rain. All he had to defend himself was an iron sword, but he didn't let that stop him. Herobrine flew forward but Rain was quicker at blocking the attack. Rain was quick. He disarmed Herobrine, ran his sword through his chest and swung multiple times. Herobrine fell forward and reached out to his pickaxe and then disappeared into thin air. Rain looked back at Abigail.

"Let's go before he comes back." Abigail nodded. They quickly looked around one last time and saw Zach, Robin and Camyo, walking lifelessly towards them. Abigail and Rain ran past everything, past hills, and mountains until they came across an old bridge. Rain cleared a cobweb before stepping aside for Abigail to walk past. The sound of someone or something walking towards them quickened and a hissing sound was quickly becoming closer. They both looked back and for a split second everything went black.

Abigail was thrown forward across the bridge and Rain was sent flying back. Abigail was knocked unconscious and laid on the cold snow with her arrows everywhere. Rain looked up and tried to make out how many undead creatures were surrounding him. His vision was blurry, his head was pounding, and he could feel blood dripping from open wounds. He reached for his sword and stumbled to stand. Abigail regained consciousness and rubbed her head. She looked up and saw what was happening, Rain was being forced to the edge of the cliff as the zombies inched closer. He could barely feel his legs underneath him as he looked back one last time at Abigail. He could barely move when he sliced Robin's head and put his sword into Camyo's neck. He was left defenceless against everything. He stopped moving as everything became black. Rain slowly turned around revealing to Abigail that he was just corrupted into the undead. She watched with horror as he staggered forward. An arrow was pulled and sent flying towards Abigail, with tears and blood rolling down her face, she was struck in the neck, killing the last living person in the once-safe village.
