“Jesus it’s cold!” Wade yelped as he stepped out of the room.
“Well it is winter…” Sarah smiled. “Are you really that much of a wimp?” She turned to look at him, raising an eyebrow.
“No… It’s just cold. That’s all. I’m just telling you.” Wade pulled together a string of words, and internally winced at how awkward they sounded. He closed the door to behind himself, acting like the cold wasn’t bothering him through his thin shirt.
“Thanks Captain Obvious!” She turned back around and examined her surroundings. They were in a long corridor; the door Wade had just shut had a small golden plaque which read ‘VI’
“Vi?” Wade read.
“Six.” Sarah corrected. “Roman numerals. Did you not learn that at school?”
“School?” Wade laughed “Who learns at school?”
“Hmm. Let’s think.” Sarah put her hand on her chin and looked at the ceiling, as if thinking. “People who want a future?”
“What’s the point?” Wade sighed. “We’re gonna die anyways right? May as well not get so worked up on school, and have as much fun as possible!”
He could have sworn for a second Sarah looked distraught, but she suddenly grinned and replied “I guess you’re right.”
“I know I am.” Wade smiled back.
“So you’re not in college?”
“Well, yeah. But I’m doing business and I have no idea what I’m actually doing…”
“Right…” Sarah nodded sarcastically
“You in college or uni or whatever?” Wade asked, leaning in to the girl.
“I’m in art college.”
“And I’M the slacker…”
“Hey! Art college-” Before Sarah could make her side of the argument, the train shook again.
“We should really get going…” Wade smiled. Sarah sighed and nodded.
“Fine…”
“Left or wrong?” Sarah asked looking at Wade. Wade raised an eyebrow.
“Really?” He asked.
“Ha ha…” Sarah chuckled, “Sorry.”
“But really.” Wade replied, “Which way-” His eyes landed on a crimson painted metal plate on the wall which had a left facing arrow on it saying ‘Lounge car’ and underneath another plate saying ‘Dining car’ with a right facing arrow.
“Left.” He answered his own question. Sarah followed his gaze and nodded with a “Hm.” Before turning left and taking a few steps before stopping. “Coming?” She asked. “Or do you wanna die before you can not have a life?”
“Hey!” Wade yelled. “Uncalled for!” He ran to catch up with Sarah before sticking his tongue out at her.
“Whatever.”
“Is this it?” Wade asked as they reached a large door.
“I don’t know…” Sarah replied sarcastically. “I’m pretty sure they just put ‘Lounge car’ on all the doors.” She gestured towards the large golden plaque that read ‘Lounge car’. She then shook her head and pushed the door open; to reveal a room that was nearly the size as the hallway. There were chandeliers hanging from the ceiling that made slight clinking sounds as the train rushed down the tracks and plush red velvet seating booths.
