"And all I know is that I want it more than yesterday"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Jezalyn agreed to go out to dinner with her parents, who were making their monthly visit, she didn't expect to witness Eleanor Wong running out of the restaurant after seeing the waitress was her mother. Her mother who was "on Broadway."
Jez couldn't help but feel bad for the girl. I mean, her own parents at least tell them where they're going, and she knows they'll come home eventually. So naturally, she decided to chase after her.
"Eleanor, wait up!"
The girl turned, tears streaming down her face by the time Jezalyn approached her.
"Oh... hi Jezalyn. Well, it's nice to know someone from high school witnessed one of the most traumatic moments in my life. Great." Eleanor sighed, wiping the tears from her face.
"I mean... if we think about it," Jez spoke slowly, "you could absolutely include this in a one woman show, or your own Netflix series!"
Eleanor cracked a smile before frowning once more. "Why are you being so nice to me? Has hanging out with Ben Gross made you suddenly soft or?"
"I've always been soft, people just see Carlos and assume I'm just like him. They're wrong, though."
Eleanor nodded before letting out a sigh. "I think I need to quit drama. It's the only thing tying me to my mother and I just can't handle that right now. I deserve to float amongst the fishes instead of creating my own path. It was always a dumb dream anyways." Jezalyn nodded, not knowing how to protest but still comfort the girl.
The two stood in silence before Eleanor sniffled, "I should go... Fabiola is probably worried and Devi too I guess. But, thanks for uh. Thank you." She smiled briefly at Jezalyn before running off.
Jezalyn felt bad for the girl, she did. But she was also feeling a little proud of herself. I mean, Jez didn't really have many friends. But she really didn't have female friends.
Maybe, just maybe, she was starting to see things a bit more clearly.
That night, Jez decided to pull out her favorite pencil and start writing. It wasn't perfect yet, but she had managed to string together a part of a chorus, the melody playing through her head as she wrote.
You are the fire in my sleep
You are the reason I dream
The girl wrote until she couldn't feel her right hand, the words starting to flow through her again.
She hadn't felt this inspired or full of hope in years. She felt a smile creep up on her lips as she sat in front of her window, staring at Ben's house. She wanted nothing more than to walk in and embrace him, thanking him for supporting her.
But instead, she pulled out her phone.
MESSAGE TO: Ben
Hey, do you wanna come over?
With Jezalyn feeling normal for the first time in forever, she decided to be bold. She wanted to see Ben (and also make out with him, but Shira still existed). More than anything though, she just wanted to talk to her best friend.
