*Gabriella's POV*

I walk out to where everyone was, which was the main lobby of this hotel. I sigh. Why do I have to be here? Why did mom make me stop reading my book to go to this stupid party? I'd rather be at home reading all the books I can before going to sleep. I go to sit down at a couch and I open my book. This party is not going to be fun, I just know it, and my mom is not going to make me not read my book to pass the time while here.

*Amelia's POV*

I follow mom, dad, and Troy to where the party was at, which was in the main lobby of the hotel we have been staying at. I sigh happily. I am so glad mom came and took me out of the basketball court and took me here. I don't know what I would have done if she hadn't come for another hour or so. This party is going to be fun, I just know it.

I walked around. I saw that there was some karaoke going on, and I gulped. I would hate to be picked to do karaoke up there on that stage. I know I want to be in the musical at East High, but the thought of singing in front of others terrify me nonetheless.

*Troy's POV*

I follow Melie to the party in the main lobby of our hotel. She walked away to look at stuff, but I stayed with dad and mom. I didn't want to be here honestly, but mom made me and dad come with her and Melie to the party. I hate this so much. This party is not going to be fun, I just know it.

I saw that she looked at the stage and gulped and I felt bad. I love her voice, but she's so insecure about it. I feel like she should do the karaoke, but I know that she would probably try to refuse to do that because of her insecurity.

"Hey, Melie, it's okay, I'm sure you won't be picked to sing karaoke," I say, trying to be reassuring, and she nods.

"I hope I don't get picked," she says, shivering a little bit. "I want to be the lead role in the musical at one point, but the thought of singing in front of others kind of terrifies me."

"I know," I say, sighing. "I hope I don't get picked to sing either. I don't sing, and I never will."

She giggled softly at me saying that. "Troy you know that you sing, and you have an amazing voice."

I gently pushed her, hoping that she knew that it was playful. "Shut up. I don't want to sing Melie. I don't want to sing just as much as you don't want to sing." I chuckle softly as I said that.

She knew that it was playful and she giggled. "Okay okay. Sorry bro."

I hug her to insure her that it was fine, and she hugs back.

We soon were at a couch nearby the stage for karaoke, and we saw a teenage girl with her head buried in a book, really entranced in it. I could tell that Melie was wanting to talk to her because she also reads, and she loves to make friends with others who read.

Then I recognized who she was. It was Gabriella, their childhood best friend! She had moved away to Arizona because of Inez's job, and they thought that she would never see her and the family again. He wanted to call her name out, but he didn't know if she would recognize them, let alone want to talk to them.

*Gabriella's POV*

I see two people, a boy and a girl, walking towards where I was, but I just keep reading my book, being really entranced in it. It was getting to the good part in the book, and I didn't want to be bothered while reading up to that point.

I then recognize who they were. They were Troy and Amelia! They were my best friends from childhood before I had to move to Arizona with my mom because of her job. Wow they have both grown so much, especially Melie! I forgot how old she would be now, but wow, she looks great! I missed them both so much.
