"THAT'S STUPID," they climbed onto the bus, laughing at their lighthearted argument. Taking their seats against the window, Shang-Chi glanced around the bus at the passengers. In the back, he could see a group of men sitting together. They looked rough, but not out of character for San Francisco. His eyebrows furrowed at a girl in the very back of the bus. A mask covered her face and her eyes remained forward. Something about her felt familiar. Perhaps he'd parked her car before.

A hand tapped his chest, pulling his attention back to his best friend. "You see that chick? She's writing her research paper on the bus." She motioned towards the woman typing away on her laptop. Some medical jargon covered the screen. "That is exactly the daughter my mom wishes came out of her vagina. It's disgusting. I mean, can you imagine me doing that?"

The woman she spoke of glanced back at them upon overhearing their conversation. She offered a friendly smile before turning back to her work. Katy turned to look at him. "She actually seems really nice. I feel bad now."

A man approached them, looking Shang-Chi up and down. Both friends furrowed their eyebrows. "Can I help you?" Shang-Chi asked, looking back at the group in the back of the bus. Their eyes were on him now. His jaw clenched as he turned back to the man.

"Give me your necklace." The man spoke in Mandarin.

Katy's eyes widened before looking to her friend. "Do you know this guy?"

Shaking his head, he glances back at the woman in the back. Her eyes are piercing through him. Something about them... He can't put his finger on it. The man grabs the poles next to him, pulling his attention away. "I've got no idea what you're talking about, dude."

The man reaches for the necklace. His arm is shoved away by Shang-Chi as he pushes himself out of the chair. "What's your problem, man?" He stumbles away from the man towards the back of the bus. Two men grab both of his arms.

"What the hell is wrong with you assholes?" Katy scoffs as she looks around at the men surrounding her best friend.

"I don't want any trouble." Shang-Chi spoke to the man in front of him.

"Then give us the pendant!" The man shouted back.

By now, the group of people in the back stood up, watching the situation with careful eyes. "You have the wrong guy!" Katy exclaimed to the man in front of her. "Does he look like he can fight?" The man grabbed her face and shoved her away, hitting her head on the window.
