     Blaine's P.O.V

My wings start to burn as the mists thin out a little bit. The humidity stops stinging my eyes and I can now see Claude zooming in front of me a couple of wing- lengths away. Water surges below, and I pull up a bit after my nervousness gets the better of me. “Claude!!!” I shout, “Enough of this!! Let’s get out of here!” Claude slows down and spins around in mid air, causing me to pull back so suddenly that the wind nearly rips my wings off.

“Stop being such an owlet, Blaine.” he growls, “This is our chance to avenge Queen Asep!” I shake my head as my heart begins to race. “No Claude, we need permission from Lucifer to do this… and… this is a bit drastic, don’t you think?” I hoot hesitantly. Claude’s emerald eyes burn into mine with such intensity, that I have to flinch away, and then feeling like a wimp, I meet his stare again. “Look Blaine,” he begins, his voice just below a rumble, “Queen Asep didn’t deserve to die that way, at the talons of a bloody Wind Rusher!! We can avenge her now, by killing the one who killed her!”

A tiny gasp escapes my beak as panic seizes my chest once again. I know that Claude can tell I’m nervous due to the laboured beating of my wings. His ashy feathers rumple to a point, making him look dark and threatening. His battle claws clank below him, and an impatient frown has set on his face. “Claude, revenge is not the way to go. If Lucifer found out-” I’m cut off as Claude growls, “Lucifer WON’T find out about this, understood? If you so much as tell another soul..”

“Are you threatening me?”

“Who cares, let’s just go!”

“NO!”

Claude clenches his beak and squints his eyes, adding to his menacing deposition. “If you won’t follow me at your own will,” he whispers, “then I’m going to have to force you.” I cock my head to the side, but before confusion can consume my thoughts, Claude lurches forward, sending a massive wind current my way. It hits me at full power, blasting me backwards and spiralling off balance. The world spins around me as I struggle to regain an upright position, my wings flailing in every direction and my talons grasping at thin air. Before I can even think, I feel a needle- sharp sensation jab into one of my feet. I screech out in pain as I look down to see Claude’s battle claws intertwined with mine. I dangle from his talons, flapping my wings in a flurried panic.

“Let go of me!” I shout, attempting to put venom in my words. Claude stares down at me, clamping his talons even tighter around mine. “No,” he hoots simply, “you are coming with me whether you like it or not.” My attempts at a struggle are to no avail, so I just simply stop moving all together. “Why, though?” I screech, “This is wrong!” Claude begins to fly forward, his wings grazing my face each time he flaps. “No, this is our chance to be appointed as soldiers!” Claude hoots above the increasing wind. “Perhaps, if Lucifer knew we were avenging his beloved queen, we’d finally be celebrated!”

I shake my head once again, fighting off the urge to kill this vole brain for being so naïve. The mist thins out even more as we progress, and the water is completely visible now. “We’re almost there,” he whispers, “keep your voice down, and don’t make any sudden movements.” I pause. “Don’t make any sudden-” Claude unexpectedly releases me, and I right myself so that I’m flying next to him. The look on his face is of pure ambition, and I struggle to breathe as my chest tightens.
