"Julie, wake up you need to wake up! I packed your lunch for your field trip and your friends are already waiting at the door. Julie, wake up! Seriously, you have a field trip today to Okefenokee swamp!" Julie's mom yells from outside the door.

Julie wakes up and jumps out of her bed. Hopping around while putting her clothes on while trying to brush her hair.

"You've got to be kidding. My hair color is turning back to normal!" Julie exclaims, as her bright blue eyes notice her brunette hair show up in her roots.

Julie runs out of the door grabbing her lunchbox and runs face first into Maria, knocking her to the ground.

"Ouch, watch where you're going next time!" Maria yells pushing Julie off of her.

"You were in front of my door!" Julie yells back.

"Alright enough! We have to get to school in time or else the buses will leave without us! Which we currently have 15 minutes to get to school!" Megan screams, looking at the canal behind the houses. "But I think we can make it. Anyone up for a little swim?"

The group of mermaids run to the backyard and jump in the canal one by one like a swim team. All of them grab their lunches and put it on top of their heads as they torpedo through the water. They arrive at the stream behind the school and they jump out and get steam dried for a few minutes. Then they run to the front of the school where the buses are and get onto the bus for their homeroom.

"We made it! We made it!" Megan squeals, putting her curly ginger and brown hair into a ponytail.

"Yeah, we did. Now we just to make it through the swamp," Maria says, as she lays against the window.

The girls are on a boat speeding through the water as they look and take pictures of the ecosystem.

"Ooh look, a crane with a python in it's mouth! Childre-teenagers this is a once in a lifetime view!" Mrs. Brown squeals as she takes pictures.

The boat stops and the captain starts talking about the alligators that live here. Megan stands up looks at the captain feeling the boat shake a little bit.

"As you guys obviously felt, Big Barbara is the biggest and most iconic alligator in this swamp. She is about 10 feet long and weighs around 300 pounds! Now anyone have any questions?" The captain asks, coughing to clear up his voice.

"Is Barbara friendly?" Bradly asks, keeping his arm on Maria much to Brad and Chad's chagrin.

"Only if you don't feed or aggravate her! In fact, there she is now, just relaxing on the right side of the boat.

Everyone moves towards Megan and start taking pictures. Barbara opens her mouth showing her big and shiny teeth with her left eye looking at Megan. Barbara moves around and dives down making everyone look at the brown murky water for any sight of where the alligator went. Suddenly, Barbara jumps out bites onto Megan's left arm. Megan's blue eyes go wide and she pushes herself off the water in an attempt to not transform in front of everyone. Megan hits the water and Barbara pulls her under as everyone start screaming on the boat.

"Oh my fucking God! Mr. Smith, do something!" Mrs. Brown screams as she starts looking around for any sign of Megan.

"Don't worry Ma'am, I've got a simple solution for Barbara here," Mr. Smith says as he pulls out a shotgun and loads some bullets.

"You're going to shoot Barbara!" Mrs. Brown yells in shock.

"Yes, I obviously can't pull her out of the water so I'll just wait here until she brings Megan back up. Might be a while though,"

"So you're just going to let Megan die?!"

"Well, Megan looked capable of fending for herself. She'll be fine,"

"I'm going to be sued!"

Meanwhile, Megan is actually fine and is now temporarily the babysitter for Barbara's hatchlings.

"I can't believe I got pulled underwater to be a baby alligators babysitter. Uh hey, don't step on your brother, Mira!" Megan yells, at one of the many alligators in the nest. "I'm even more surprised by the fact I'm able to talk and understand aquatic animals. Jessie, when did your mom say  she would be back?"

A little alligator lets out an adorable noise and Megan has an exhausted look on her face.

"An hour. One hour with a nest of baby alligators! In my mermaid form and I can't even text my friends to tell them I'm ok!" Megan screams hysterically, falling to the ground in fetal position. The baby alligators notice her in distress and cover her up. "I can't even be mad. This is too adorable!"

Everyone on the boat remains silent as Mrs. Brown prepares to call Megan's parents.

"I can do this. I've had worse experiences. I can do this!" Mrs. Brown chants to herself as she pushes Megan's mom's contact. "No I can't I'm going to die!"

"How about we tell her parents?" Julie suggests, pointing at Maria and Adrienne.

"You know what that's a good idea. While you're calling her parents, I will be calling my lawyer," Mrs. Brown responds sitting down eerily calm and happy.

Julie calls Megan's parents and they end up hanging up the phone.

"I think they're in shock. Listen, we need to create a distraction so one of us can go underwater and find Megan. She froze and alligator once before so she can do it again. Maybe she's just waiting it out somewhere thinking we'll find her in some other part of the swamp," Adrienne whispers, looking around at the distressed and traumatized students.

"Look I could go into the water and find Megan. We just need a way to get off the boat unnoticed!" Maria whispers into Julie's ear. "Oh no!"

"Maria, no! I am not about to let you go on this suicide mission to save Megan!" Brady yells, getting the attention of everyone on the boat.

Mrs. Brown turned around with tears in her eyes and grabbed Maria's shoulders.

"Thank you, Brady for telling me of this suicidal plan. Maria under no circumstance are you or any of your friends jumping out of the boat to find Megan! I know this may be a distressful time, but don't give up hope yet. Now then, Brady, Brad, and Chad keep Maria on the boat no matter what! Even if all three of you have to hold her down!" Mrs. Brown says walking back to her seat on the boat.

Brady, Brad, and Chad all hold Maria no matter how much she struggles.

"Maria, you can't escape. We all are on the football team and I'm on quarterback!" Chad exclaims, as Maria hits his chest with her elbow.

"We're calling the police and heading back to school. This is too traumatizing for the students!" Miss Mary, exclaims looking at the weirded out and almost traumatized Maria being hugged and held down by Brady, Brad, and Chad.

"Ok, we'll leave. Students I'm so sorry Big Barbara ruined your field trip. She usually doesn't act this way, I'm so sorry," Mr. Smith says as he starts the boat up and drives off.

"We can't leave her! She's still alive!" Maria screams, breaking out of the three football layers hold.

"Oh, Mr. Smith hurry up! Maria's starting to get hysterical! Brady, Brad, Chad soothe and console her quickly before she does something extreme!" Miss Mary yells, pointing at the buses and port in the distance.

"Yes, ma'am!" The trio responds, each hugging a part of Maria. "Don't worry Maria, we'll be home and off these dangerous waters soon."

"No! No! Megan's still alive! Why don't you understand!" Maria yells, finally giving up and sitting down.
