According to ancient history, the Heavenly Horses, also known as Sweats Blood Horses 汗血馬, bleed when they sweat. Or their sweat was just blood-red in color. If trained appropriately, these beasts run faster and jump higher than others. They have the ability to recognize their owners, remember scents, and can hear and see better than other animals. They understand the human language to an acute level, as well as human emotions. Although mostly used for battles and long trips, they are excellent search and rescue animals. Extremely pricey since they had to be imported from Russia, only the very wealthy could afford them.
When ZiShu was 14, he was unanimously elected leader of his own junior battalion. At that time, his Emperor father had gifted him a 汗血 horse as a medal of honor. He trained it himself, fed and washed the animal, and tended to its care, and it had since accompanied him into several battles, totally fearless just like its owner. During the last few battles, it had gotten to know and respect Wen Ke Xing as though he was its second master. The prince did not let anybody else ride his horse, except Lao Wen of course.
If anybody tried, the horse would throw the rider off before long. But when Wen Ke Xing tried, it did not do that. One time, not long after the Liao battle, when ZiShu was still just regularly flirting with Lao Wen and they did not get intimate yet, Lao Wen had asked the prince why the horse would let him ride it, and the prince's answer was hilarious. "汗血 could smell you on me, and smell me on you. It senses that you're extremely attracted to me. It knows that you would be seduced by me sooner or later, and warm my bed and become my bride. So it has already accepted you as its master's bride." And then Wen Ke Xing just blushed. And of course, the prince burst out in laughter, playful as always.

"汗血, help me find Lao Wen. He's in danger, he urgently needs us." was all the prince had to say, and the horse galloped away amidst the heavy thunderstorms.
As though it could hear Lao Wen's cries, or smell his odor, the horse just sped away, turning left and right where needed, crossing hills and ponds, never stopping. It seemed to know where it was heading, even when its owner did not. No wonder they call it the Heavenly Horse.
Since it could run faster than normal horses, within just 1 day, it had arrived at the valley of the hill where Lao Wen fell to. The animal suddenly reduced its speed once it got there, and then started hunting, smelling, looking around, listening for sounds, slowly searching for its master's bride.
Then it stopped in front of a gigantic tree, and then got into a sitting position. 汗血 never sat. Horses do not sit down because it's unnatural for them. They have other mechanisms that allow them to rest.
汗血 had never sat in all the years that ZiShu had known it. Ever. Yet it sat right in front of that tree and stopped moving altogether, just waiting. Therefore ZiShu understood, it was the beast's magical way of letting him know that he had found Lao Wen.
ZiShu looked around the tree trunk and did not see anything or anyone. Then he looked up at the tree foliage. It was midday and the rain had stopped. It was so sunny to the point it was blinding. But he thought one of the branch looked like it had extra weight on it because it was hanging lower than the other branches. So he looked again after his eyes adjusted to the brightness.
There he saw a body, very pale but it was Lao Wen indeed. Extremely proud of his horse, he gave it a big kiss on the muzzle. Then he climbed on the tree, and pulled Lao Wen down. The tree had cushioned his fall from the cliff.
Once ZiShu brought Lao Wen down to the ground, he noticed several injuries on him. He was not sure if his lover was dead or alive, so he went to feel a pulse, and confirmed that he was alive. He quickly carried him up onto the horse, and rode to the nearest town to seek medical help. He did not know where they were, but all he had to do was ask 汗血 "Find me a doctor, a place that smells of medical herbs", and off the horse cantered away.
