In life, you never really knew what was coming your way until it slapped you clear across the face. One second, everything could be perfect, you're the happiest you've ever been. The next? You're face down, wondering how you got there and whether or not you'd ever be able to pick up the pieces.
Humans often became complacent with the things they had; whether it be a shitty job, a backstabbing friend, or a cheating spouse.
They fear change.
They fear the unknown.
For that reason, the universe threw curveballs.
To the outside world, Rey and Henley Dayton were the happiest couple on Earth. They'd plaster on fake smiles for family and friends, saving the gradual implosion of their relationship for the walls of their Los Angeles home.
No one knew of their fights.
No one knew that Henley drank himself to sleep almost every night.
And no one knew that Rey currently occupied their guest bedroom.
It took three years of marriage for the pair to realize they had one fatal flaw: Henley Dayton refused to have children.
Hearing those words leave her husband's mouth almost destroyed the young blonde.
She'd spent her younger years daydreaming about her future family; three kids at least, but she'd be willing to have more. A medium sized home on the east coast with a large backyard for them to play in. All that while she curled up next to the man she loved, watching what their shared affection created.
How could she have that if Henley was against it though?
The pair of twenty-five year olds were currently on their way to Los Angeles International, Henley tapping his fingers to the beat of the radio while Rey watched the smog filled scenery race by.
They'd gotten into it again that morning.
"Rey..." His dark eyes momentarily shifted away from the road, "Baby, please don't be mad. I know you want kids, but it's just not something I'm willing to do. Why can't you accept that?"
Rey's jaw clenched as tears threatened to spill from her eyes. "Why can't I accept it? We've been together for eight years. Never once did you make your feelings known. You knew that I wanted to have kids when I was financially stable."
"Here we go again-"
"No." The blonde snapped, cutting him off. "Stop trying to blame me, Henley Aleczander. We could've avoided all of this had you been upfront from the start."
Henley's grip on the steering wheel tightened with each word, but Rey wasn't backing down. She'd given up so much in support of his dreams and career, so why couldn't he do this one thing for her?
