Chapter 6

Juan's POV *A month and a half later*"

L/N-chan, could you tell me what the radius of the circle would be if X to the power of 2 plus Y to the power of 2 plus 4X minus 2Y equals -1."

I look over towards Y/N as our teacher calls on her. I sigh knowing she's going to be embarrassed for falling asleep in this class for the 4th time now this month. As I'm about to reach over and poke her cheek, our teacher clears her throat and shakes her head not to bother trying to wake her up this time.

'Come on kid. Why have you been falling asleep more lately in class? You never do this.'

I sigh as I make sure my notes are legible enough for her to copy later after class before she heads into work for her shift. Oddly enough, our shifts have been scheduled at different times during the week and I have a good idea as to who's been bribing our shift manager into doing so.

"Garcia-kun, I hope you're eye-roll doesn't have to do anything to do with the way I had just shown how to do the problem."

"No, it doesn't. I'm sorry, I have a lot of things on my mind right now."

I take my glasses off and pinch the bridge of my nose as I apologized.

"We all have our own problems we deal with outside of school. I know you want to find a solution to whatever it is you may be facing, but please don't do it while you are in my class."

I see her look at both Y/N's sleeping hunched figure over her desk and me with the bags that have become more apparent under my eyes. She gives me a sympathetic look before resuming her lesson.

'Only if you knew half the things going on at home Ito-sensei. I'm sure that sympathy would turn into pity alongside a few lectures.'

20 minutes pass by before our class ends and I use one hand to rub Y/N shoulder to wake her up. She groans a bit before I start to lightly tap her forehead to wake her up. Her face scrunches up registering what I was doing before her eyes open up. Confusion is visible as she looks around the class to see that everyone had already left. Realization hits her like a truck as she whines and whispers yells to herself that she's an idiot. I look up to see Ito-sensi walking towards us with a few papers in hand. She places them on Y/N's desk before turning the chair in front of her around.

"L/N-chan, I don't know if you are just bored in my class or whether it be that something is going on at home that you are falling asleep in my class, but please, I need you to stay awake. I really am concerned now, because although you may be paying for your education be it out of pocket or with scholarship money, you will be failing a class you paid to take. You know very well that participation in class discussions is 45% of your overall grade, and within this past month, it has dropped your B+ to a C+."

I watch as Y/N looks down and apologizes for slaking off lately. But what leaves her mouth next leaves me in shock.

"I've been working till 3 am a lot recently, and on top of that my insomnia has returned. Finding time to sleep has been harder to find lately. It's no excuse but I do want you to know that it has nothing to do with your class or teaching methods, they're all just issues of my own."

Ito-sensei lays a hand on Y/N's shoulder in concern noticing the bags that have also taken up residency under her Y/N's eyes.

"Have you asked your manager to not schedule you at such late times?"

"I have. We have two managers and I've asked the one who does all the scheduling to have me work early shifts at the club. She's constantly told me that she would but nothing has changed, so I kinda lost hope of finding sleep till recently."
