Darkness.

That's all I saw. Black.

Stars shining through the trees. Clouds slowly and surely moving over the moon.

And the steady rise of smoke. Thick, black smoke. Rising slowly swirling around the clear opening.

I squint in pain towards the grass. Daisies, dandelions, and morning glorys surrounding my vision.

The smell of smoke and blood disrupting my nasal passage.

I lift my head up what I can. My tiny frail 9 year old body shuttering in pain.

I look blurrily around me, seeing the fire off in the distance. A shuddering breath escapes my lips remembering what happened.

I stand up and try running, but scream in pain and fall over, looking down with teary eyes at my crooked ankle and large bloody gash on the side if my thigh.

I ignore the pain and crawl quickly, getting closer and closer to the blistering heat. "KAYAMAAAA!" I scream at the top of my lungs. "KAYAMAAAA! BIG SISTER! WHERE ARE YOUUU!" I scream, my throat hurting and vocal chords seizing from strain.

I reach the open window and see my sister, her bloody head shaking as she shifts around yelling in pain in the driver's seat, her legs jammed under the dashboard.

"Kayama...?" I whimper.

She turns her pretty blue eyes towards me. "Y/n. N/n. Listen t-to me."

"N-no.... Please don't go..." I start crying getting closer to the burning car.

"No, n/n. Run. You need to get away, the gas t-tank is leaking, the car is g-gonna blow up."

My eyes widen. "B-but your stuck!" I yell hearing sirens in the distance.

"It's okay baby, I love you so much. B-but you nee-"

BOOM

I scream in pain as I'm shot backwards, my clothes and body burning. I land on my dislocated shoulder.

I look up, and all I see is fire. No longer a car.

And I scream. Seeing firemen and officers running to us in the distance. And my father with them. I cry as the one man reaches me and asks if I'm alright.

"K-kayama...." I cry out my heart hurting.

The fireman in the distance yells about a diseased body in the vehicle. I look to my dad and the last thing I see is a look of disappointment.

And then I'm put on a stretcher, and I fall asleep, my last image of my sister engraved in my head.
