Finally we arrived upstate it was really cold."Damn this place is cold" Devonte was only wearing his base ball jacket and shorts. I told him that upstate was cold but who listens to me " I hope you freeze boy I told you it was cold"
He rolls his eyes and Check his phone and he smiles we start packing our things into the dorms. I heard good and bad about these dorms. Boys are allowed to share rooms with the opposite gender it was shocking but cool too. As we were unpacking a girl walks in with her belongings and places it on Devonte's bed
" uhm excuse me, who are you?" I asked with a little attitude. She smiles and says " I'm your roommate silly" Devonte and I look at each other and burst out into laughter, my mom and Mr.James was trying to keep in their laughter.
" what's do funny?" She asks innocently "Nothing sorry" I said mimicking her accent. " so you said you were my roommate? "Yhup" I looked at her so confused Devonte decides to speak " I thought it was two students per room?" I asked curiously "It still is" she replied with a smirk. we were all confused like fools.
I don't like this type of confusion it's irritating.
"So what your trying to say is that your Dominique's roommate?" My mother asked trying to clear everyone's confusion She nods her head and hands my mother a paper and it says clearly that room 117 is assigned to Essence and Dominique.
So Devonte and Mr.James march straight down to the housing office. I decide to finish unpacking and decorate my half of the room with vines and pictures of my family. My mom fell asleep on my bed I took a really long time so did Devonte. They come back 2 hours later and say the rules have been changed, it's no more boy and girl for first year students
"My room is 123 and my roommate is going to be here soon" he said bummed.
He packs all his things and moves a couple of rooms down. Essence looks at me and smiles I shoot her with a 1 sec smile and look away. I was creeped out.
It was getting late and the drive was long so Mr. James and my Mom decides to leave. We said our goodbyes and they left. I started to get hungry so I went down to the canteen and got a salad when I was coming back my face met with a wall.
"Damn who put this wall here" I said to myself silently knowing I wasn't paying attention. "so I'm a wall now" a deep monotone voice said.
I scrunched my eyebrows and looked at who was talking. I saw a dark man he is no boy, this in front of me was a man. He had his New York Jersey on so I knew he played ball.
"Uhm-sorr......my bad" goddamnit I was stuttering for words now and I'm very sure I looked like a mighty fool with a salad in hands "it's cool, I'm Sean" he's said with a glowing smile.
I honestly think I was drooling, he was a fine man I'll give him that " I'm Dominique" he smiles and continues to talk. " Your a very awkward person, it's cute and I'll see you around " he smiles and walks away.
And I'm still caught up on his beauty I walk back to my room with a smile on my face " why you smiling so hard" Devonte asks.
He was on my bed playing with my stuff as always he can't seem to leave my things alone it has been that way since we were children.
" I met this fine specimen on my way here" I said smiling like a fool. He shakes his heads and looks at me "whatt, he is really fine you have to see him for yourself boy" he laughs and then suddenly remembers something. " That reminds me, the both of us aren't allowed to date each other's roommates" he said sternly.
I scrunched my eyebrows it was a habit I just can't seem to get rid of.
" why?" I said in a mini laugh " well because it'll be weird" he said like he was stating the obvious. I just accepted what he was putting down because I don't even care if he dates Essence so I continued to eat my salad. While Devonte went back to his room, Essence fell asleep a while ago so I decided to crash.
