Arthur leaned against the outside wall of the half-built barn, Hank sitting at his side. With a grin, he listened to music coming from the inside of the barn, where Charles, Francis, and Jackson worked on the barn's construction. Jackson and Francis were singing a duet at the top of their lungs.

"She held Wanda's hand as they worked out a plan and it didn't take 'em long to decide," Francis sang loudly.

"THAT EARL HAD TO DIE!" Jackson yelled. "Na na na na naaaaa!"

"GOODBYEEEEEE, EEEEEARL!" Francis and Jackson sang together in high-pitched voices, mimicking the tone of the female vocalists singing the song on the speaker.

"Those black-eyed peas!" Jackson shouted.

"THEY TASTED ALRIGHT TO MEEEEEEEE, EEEEEEARL! You feelin' weak?!" Francis shout-sang in reply.

Arthur chose to make his presence known, and stepped around the doorframe and into the barn, hands on hips. Hank followed him, wagging his tail happily.

Nearly splitting his sides from laughter, Arthur took in the scene before him. Charles sat on a bale of hay, looking over the barn plans with a wide grin on his face while Jackson and Francis danced around like shirtless idiots. Jackson used a hammer as a microphone, and Francis used the handle of a push broom.

"Join us, Arthur!" Jackson shouted, grinning from ear to ear. "We're singing Dixie Chicks songs!"

"I think I'd rather just watch this particular brand of theater," Arthur chuckled, taking a seat next to Charles on the bale of hay.

"The cops came by to bring Earl in; They searched the house high and low. Then they tipped their hats and said, 'Thank you ladies. If you hear from him let us know,'" Jackson sang, continuing on with the song while Arthur and Charles looked at each other out of the corner of their eyes. Arthur couldn't help but keep laughing. This was the most ludicrous thing he'd ever seen.

"Well, the weeks went by and spring turned to summer, and summer faded into fall. And it turns out he was a missing person who NOBODY MISSED AT ALL!" Francis shouted, making eye contact with Charles and grinning suggestively.

"So the girls bought some land and a roadside stand out on highway 109," Jackson sang, throwing his hands up in the air and grinning at Francis. "They sell New Hanover ham and strawberry jam, and they don't lose any sleep at night," he sang.

"'CAUSE EARL HAD TO DIE!" They sang together. "GOODBYEEEEEEEE, EEEEEEAARL!"

Charles gave Arthur a funny look and stood up, rolling the barn plans into a tube and holding it up to his face as if it were a microphone. "We need a break!" he shouted, singing along with Jackson and Francis. "LET'S GO OUT TO THE LAAAAAAAAKE, EEEEEAAARRL!"

"We'll pack a lunch!" Jackson sang.

"AND STUFF YOU IN THE TRUUUUUUUUUNK, EEEEEEEEAAARRL!" Jackson and Francis sang together, throwing their heads around, allowing their hair to swish about their heads as though they were rockstars.
