It was nearly always loud in the city. It truly was a skill to behold to be able to dissect the noise and figure out what was going on. To insightful eyes and powerful ears one could easily figure out that tonight was an important night. After all, the city was nearly silent. Even to those without fully realizing it, people tend to subconsciously notice when something important is going to happen. And so, with a watchful eye and an open heart, let us watch these stories unfold. Heroes and villians alike will be born soon. And so, we begin.

Wednesday, October, twenty-first

 Austin Pov

Another day, another dollar. That's how the old saying goes. I find it depressing to an extent. Each day, all you work for is enough to pay the rent. Enough to buy food. To keep the power on. But I hope I find something more to live for than just the next paycheck. I have my eyes on someone, but they're taken unfortunately. While I could usually live with that, It would help if I didn't have to see them every time I went to work. I'm afraid that my secret crush, is my boss...'s husband. While the coffee shop I work at is owned by Stephanie, Justin insists on helping out with openings. Speaking of, I should probably get going soon. I groan as I get out of bed. While I liked my job, I'm barely what you would think of as a morning person. As I get dressed I think about the weekend I had. Me, Stephanie, and Justin went out to the beach near the city. I just hope I wasn't as flushed as I felt the entire time. Justin... wasn't terrible to look at in his swimsuit to say the least. I quickly grab a bagel out of my pantry and pop it in the toaster. I grab the cream cheese out of my fridge and start gathering my things. Wallet, check. Phone, check. Alright, bagel's ready, put on the cream cheese. I take a bite and run out the door.

As I walk out the door and start the walk, I hope desperately I'm not late. It's hardly a big deal if I'm a bit behind, but I don't want to miss Justin. I walk a bit faster. I can see the building. I sigh, glad that I'll make it in time. As I pushed through the doors I yell out "Hello! I'm not late, you're all early!" I hear laughter from outside my vision. "Hey Austin!" I hear Stephanie yell from over yonder. She and Justin come over to where I was standing. "How's it going? How'd you sleep?" Justin asks. "Good to both of them! How about you?" I say. "I'm good." "Good." "What about you Steph?" I ask her. "I'm doing good." She says. "Glad to hear it! The both of you." I respond. After that we fell into a comfortable silence as we went through opening the store. After we finished, Justin went to go to whatever magic show his manager had set up for him. I really wish he would quit that job and do something else. Or at the very least find a new manager. His current ones an asshole. He couldn't care less what happens to Justin and he always skims a bit of money off the top to take for himself.

Now that we have the store open, we flip on the sign at the front of the store and unlock the doors. While being a barista might not be the best thing to do for a living if you have anger issues, I've gotten better at controlling it. While I'm glad I get an unjustified amount of breaks, I wish I could spend more time with the nice returning customers that I get. Unfortunately my work isn't very interesting aside from those customers. There aren't any of the super hero fights you hear about on the news, no celebrities, no anything. I suppose I should be grateful, because if a super hero came down here, YEESH, the property damage from the always soon to follow nemesis would be a nightmare to handle. I suppose I should just be happy with my boring life. As boring as it is, I'm living fairly stably. I have a nice job, a nice apartment. I suppose something might happen tomorrow. Maybe . . .

A/n: I hope this first chapter is fairly good. It's the first thing I've written.
