Austin Pov
I get up and move towards the furniture. As I get closer I notice there is someone in the chair next to the fireplace. As I move towards them, I hear them say "Hello Austin." I gasp. I recognize that voice. It-It's the voice in my head. "Who are you?" I ask, wondering who this person is and how they know my name. "How do you know my name?" "Patience." They answer me. "All will be made clear in time. I am the being inhabiting the crystal that you were hit by." "What?! What do you mean by that? How are you inhabiting a crystal." I ask "I could not answer that question if I wanted to. I have been inside it since before time and will still remain there long after it." "Very cryptic. You're that kind of... deity? Presence? What are you? "I ask, my curiosity piqued at its comment about how long it had been alive. "I am a presence, as you said. I have been waiting for someone to be struck by a shard of my planet for centuries. My species is one of chaos. Of... Animosity. An anger beyond belief. A destructive force thats sole purpose is to create anarchy. Now that the fire of entropy is in your veins, there is no turning back." They respond. "What do you mean 'the fire of entropy runs in my veins'? When did that happen?" I ask, this... Animosity catching my interest. "When you were struck by the crystal. That is the reason it did not burn or cut you, unless it was for the greater good. That is all I can tell you for now. Wake, and go about your day. Farewell." "What?! No! I need to know more!" I shout
I woke with a start, the details of my dream, etched into my mind. Can I even call it that? A dream? It seemed so... real. Temporarily putting my vision off to the side, I start getting ready for work. I wasn't lying to Justin when I said I was feeling much better. I start the walk to work, making sure to keep my ear out for any other strange noises or falling crystals. As I get to work, I hear Stephanie call out, "Austin is that you you?" "Yeah!" I call back. "Are you sure you should be back at work? From the way you phrased it, it sounded like this cut was pretty serious." His voice is practically dripping with concern. I nearly forgot that Steph is in that group chat. "Oh, it's much better now. My arm feels fine." I say. "Are you sure? I don't want you working injured." "I'm fine!" I say exasperated "Let's just open the store. Let's get going." As clearly iffy about it as she obviously is, she complies. As we open up, I realize something is missing. "Where's Justin?" I ask confused. "... We separated." "What?! You seemed so... happy." I ended awkwardly. "It just didn't work out. She got fired yesterday. I just couldn't juggle the full rent. It wasn't working out anyway." "Mmm. That's a shame." I tried to remain calm, but I was bursting with excitement. If Stephanie and Justin got separated, then I could make my move. Of course I needed to bide my time. "Austin? Austin? You there?" She asked, snapping me out of my planning. "Yeah I'm here. Sorry 'bout that. I just zoned out.
After that we fell into routine. After that work was good enough. Justin stopped bye and said hi once through the day, but didn't stay long. I could tell he wanted to be there, but I couldn't figure out why. Maybe... No. I shook myself. Why on earth would Justin be there because of me? Ridiculous. Preposterous. Thoughts similar to those float around my mind as I finish work. Walking home, I come back to the place where I was struck by the crystal.
A/N I completely lost motivation to write this and I'm just posting it for some sense of closure.
