WHILE THE WIND blew against her face causing goosebumps all over her skinny arms, she still stood there. "Hey, baby sis! Big bro is taking us for ice cream! last one there has to eat a grape!" a young blonde child yelled running back up from the hill he just slid down from. The young girl looked back and started running while holding her hat, her blonde hair going everywhere. "Hey wait up you know I'm not as fast as you or Shin!" she smiled, she smiled brighter than anyone in the world. Her beautiful white dress, her cream saddles, her straw hat, and her beautiful eyes to top it off. She hugged her brother as she reached him at the top of the hill. "Amy!" The young boy yelled as his sister hugged him and they landed on the sidewalk. "Mikey!" She mocked. The two siblings got up. As they walked they talked loudly, as kids do. Most strangers looked at them as if remembering their old memories.
The two usually got that. I mean they were attached at the hip! The two always did everything together. They'd walk in the middle of the night (only to be later found by their brother or sister and brought back home.) They shared a room, a cat, they even shared the same skateboard. Though they did have their moments, they always cared for each other. "So have you figured out a way to ask big bro for a bike yet, Mikey?" The blonde in turn shook his head causing the younger to laugh a little. "What are you laughing at? I'm your older brother therefore you cannot laugh at me!" The boy yelled, causing a mini scene. Amy shushed him and pulled his arm while running. As they both saw their older brother at the ice cream shop they grinned.
Amy and Mikey started running towards him and hugged his torso almost making him fall. "Ah if it isn't my two favorite jokesters. What would you like to eat?" He lowered himself to their level and bowed. "I would like chocolate and vanilla ice cream!" The blonde-haired girl commanded, "And I would like a mint chocolate chip ice cream!" Mikey scowled. Shinichiro nodded his head and took both their hands as he got them inside to order.
"Mikey." the oldest of the three said, grabbing both the kid's attention. "You will be turning ten this November, Amy over here turning nine tomorrow." The siblings move their gaze to each other for a quick second. "so?" The black-eyed girl tilted her head. "So... what would you like to do for your birthdays," The black-haired male smiled. The two kids smiling so much their faces hurt.
"I wanna go to the goat karts!"
"Me too!"
"And Emma can ride horses there too!"
"Yeah!"
The kids shook hands as if they made a deal over who owns Tokyo.
"Well, I guess we're going to the go-karts tomorrow," All of them laughed like the happy family they were. As they continued to add on more details to the plan, getting more excited by the minute. Eating ice-creams and making messes and then running back home to their sister Emma and watching a slasher film. Then falling asleep for another day to come again. That was the cycle, and it would always be since they all loved each other and that's how it works. All of them smiling in their sleep. Waiting for the next day of fun memories to come.
"Oh if only it could stay like that forever," Amy sighed, looking at a photo that they took that day now framed in her at-home office. She had finished her work a while ago and sat there staring at the picture as the memories flood back. She is taken out of dreamland as she hears a knock at her door. She quickly stands up and goes to open it only to be greeted by her husband, Naoto.
"Honey it's twelve am, you need sleep," was all he said as he touched her cheek. "no I'm fine I promise, you need sleep you detective," She punched his shoulder jokingly. "Hey, I'm serious, you need to sleep babe, come one." He said as he picked her up bridal style to their shared room. As she was carefully set down on their bed, she got up to get changed. She quickly picked out one of his shirts and one of her sweatpants. Hurriedly, she went to the bathroom and changed, wiping off her make-up and doing some skincare. The last few days have been a mess, first, her best friend dies, then her work starts getting harder, and then her kid's school had the kids have a week off. Of course, she was thankful for it as she remembers how she used to wish for the same thing a while ago but now she had to work from home more often.
The door to the bathroom opened as the water stopped, "Hey, you want water?" Naoto poked her cheek. As she was brought back to reality she slowly started to smile, which led to giggling which they erupted into the two laughing a little and hugging. "Hey Mr. pokesters, why don't you tell me a story from work?" she asked, poking her beautiful husband's cheek. Knowing how happy he always was to tell her stories, from work. Seeing his smile always cured her moments.
"Well you won't believe what happened today, it started at the subway-"
