Sense Of Self- Blue period

Chapter 6

"Yaguchi, Rinka, do you both know why I called you here?" Our form teacher said.

" No clue." We both said in sync.

Rinka droned out whatever the teacher was saying, and was lost in her own thoughts.

What should I eat for lunch later? Soup sounds good. There is art session today, so maybe I'll paint another painting today. Maybe I'll work on bring out the subject by using contrasting colours? Or by using a difference in texture. Hmmmmm.

"Rinka. Is going to an art school really your goal?" Sensei asked. "It's a waste considering your pretty good grades."

" Yes. " Rinka answered seriously. " I will get in, one way or another. "

The teacher sighed. "I hope you have considered all your options carefully."

"Of course I have." Rinka answered. " Don't worry."

Rinka grinned seeing Yataro there in the art club. She sat next to him, at the back of the room.

"Hello Yataro!" Rinka greeted him excitedly.

"Hello Rinka." Yataro greeted back. "Please take care of me."

Rinka merely giggled, before she turned to face Mrs Saeki.

"Let's see... Shall we start with an introduction? " Mrs Saeki said.

" I'll be joining the art club from today. "Yaguchi said confidently." I'm Yaguchi Yataro, a second year. Nice to meet you. "

Rinka was very amused seeing the looks of fear on the other member's face, but still clapped along. She briefly met his friends before, and they were much nicer than they seem.

" I seriously want to learn how to draw, and I wouldn't be bringing any of my friends here." Yaguchi reassured.

The atmosphere lightened up instantly.

"Okay, now that we are done with introducing our newest member, I would like to move on to our normal drawing lessons. " Mrs Saeki started." Unfortunately, the summer vacation starts next week. Therefore... "

" I prepared a special summer menu for our first and second years." Mrs Saeki said.

Yaguchi could see the looks of fear and terror on some of his classmates and was extremely confused. Ayukawa flinched as well, which made him sweat drop. He glanced at his friend, Rinka, and saw her smiling as usual.

'Nani-' He thought to himself.

"It might be a little tough, but it is good for improving your skills. The current third and second years should know about it."

" Is it true? " Yataro whisperer to Mori senpai.

" Yes, it does help you improve a lot. "Mori senpai said. " But I only managed to do 60% of it... "

Rinka could hear the various cries and protest that flooded the room. She just giggled softly to herself.

Mori senpai looked at her, and slightly giggled too. She remembered that last year, Rinka was the only one who finished this very difficult assignment. Her work was also very good. The first lesson after the summer holidays, Rinka entered the classroom with remnants of dried paint all over her hands. It looked very funny.
