Chapter 3: Toriel
Alex's soul was a very rare. You could assume that it would be the only one in the world and be right.
A soul of leadership. The soul was a vibrant rainbow color, signifying all the specific traits that lead up to that point.
Kindness.
Patience.
Perseverance.
Integrity.
Justice.
Bravery.
Determination.Yours was rare as well. A soul of endurance. Let's just say that..you've endured a lot.
You learned about the choices of battle. However, you had made a silent promise to yourself that you would never hit that fight option.
You and Alex were in the house, sitting on the floor, learning about each other. Or just you learning about him. He told you that he had a sister, he told you where he came from. But he tried to avoid answering any questions about his home life. He possibly could've had trauma himself.
You could probably estimate how long you had been down here. At least an hour or two. What would happen if you stayed down here? What would happen if you never went back up to see the sun? Would anyone care? Cry? Feel remorse? Think you were dead?
You suddenly felt the urge to go back up. You could live your own life. Get a nice apartment. Find a job. Anything. You could finally be at peace.
You noticed Alex had walked away from in front of you. As you turned your head you noticed he was staring at something. A stair way. The stairs went so far down you couldn't even see what was at the bottom from the darkness that had grew.
You rose to your feet and walked to the other room. Toriel was in a comfy chair, reading a book, glasses on her face. You walked to her and quietly spoke. "Ms.Toriel..? How do I..get back up to the surface..?"
Toriel seemed to froze and tensed up.
She smiled nervously, quickly trying to change the subject. "Uhm...would you like to hear a fact about snails, my child?"
You knew what she was trying to do and repeated your question a little more sternly.
Toriel sat there, her hands shaking slightly before she closed it and pulled her glasses off of her muzzle. As she stood, she placed the book on the chair and walked past you.
You followed her quickly. As you did so, you saw her gently move Alex aside and walk down the dark staircase.
"Please, do not follow me. Go to your rooms."
You flinched. Instead of the gentle and soft tone she had before, it was very stern, and struck fear into you. You gave Alex a look of confusion and worry. Alex had the same expression as he stared back at you. As Alex slowly began to walk down the stairs, you followed, shaking in your spot.
"I said go to your rooms." Toriel spoke again. She didn't even look back at the both of you.
"What will happen if we don't?" Alex said, a soft yet nervous glare on his face. You didn't need to say anything to prove that you wanted to know as well.
Toriel said nothing as she continued. You could tell Alex didn't care about Toriel's wishes as he followed her. You walked next to Alex, letting out a very quiet whimper.
"This is your last warning." Toriel said. "Go back to your rooms." This time, neither of you responded.
Not too long after, you noticed a large door in front of Toriel. You tilted your head. So this wasn't the whole underground.
"This is the exit to the ruins." She spoke up. "I am going to destroy it."
You and Alex flinched in shock. Does that mean you both would be trapped down here?
"What?! Why?!" Alex exclaimed, stepping forward a bit. You stepped with Alex, a surprised expression on your face.
Silence.
"You both wish to know the truth so badly?" Toriel said, the room suddenly increasing in temperature. You tensed up.
"Prove yourselves."
Torie sharply turned to face the two of you, flames following her hands, her eyes glowing.
"Prove to me you are strong enough to survive!!"
