"I'm thirsty" Penelope whines as we approach the car. I let out a sigh, "Why didn't you tell me before we got to the car?" I put my hands on my waist.
She shrugs and crosses her arms. She pouts and widens her eyes, looking up at me. It's always the damn eyes that get me. "Ugh, fine go." I said nodding toward the house.
"Come with me." She demanded, "Why? You're a big girl." I gave her an awkward pat on the head. She looked at me like if I was stupid. "I'm short, I can't reach it." She huffed. I roll my eyes and start walking up to the house.
We enter the kitchen and walk up to the fridge. "What do you want to drink?" I ask her, "lemonade please." She asked politely, sitting down on the stool. I pour her some in a plastic cup that I grabbed from the cupboard.
"Here." I passed it to her. She gave me a small thanks and begin drinking. As she was enjoying her cup of lemonade, I heard Cecelia and Enrique laughing. I see them run by the kitchen doorway, calling each other names.
I chuckle a bit, and start thinking about our wedding. The wedding is happening in two weeks, but I haven't told Cecelia yet. I get a bit nervous around her, thinking I'm going to say or do something idiotic. She just makes me lose my senses and I hate that. I hate that she has so much power over me. But she doesn't feel the same way as me, she could never love me.
She's probably going to be mad that I didn't tell her when the wedding was happening. But I can't move it, I already told my father, he's coming down in two days. With his wife.
His wife is a gold digger, she's just a few years older than me. They got married about 2 years ago, but I didn't attend their wedding. I told them I was busy in Peru. I know my father was hurt, but I couldn't support his marriage. Enrique went though, but he's always been dad's golden boy, no matter how hard I try I will never be good enough for my father. So I'm hoping once I get married, he'll give me full authority of the mafia. After I'm the actual Don, I'll defeat our enemies once and for all. But how the hell am I suppose to tell Cecelia that she's going to walk down the aisle in two weeks.
"What's that beeping?" Penelope's small voice enters my ears. "What beeping?" I look at her, "the one I'm hearing." She says, "shhh." I told her trying to hear.
Beep, beep, beep. It sounded like a timer, or more like some sort of explosive. Bomb.
Shit! I quickly run up to Penelope, picking her up. "What's wrong?" I ignore her question, I run to the kitchen door that's on the others side of the kitchen.
Fuck, I try to run faster. But I'm panicking.BOOM.
The explosion shook the whole house, causing me to fall down. As I fell down I let go of Penelope, she flies, crashing into the ground. She lets out a scream and starts crying. I look up to her and see that she's right next to the door. I try my best to crawl to her but I'm pushing myself on my hands and on one leg. My other leg feels broken, I can barely move it .
"Penelope." I call out to her as I finally reached her. I give her my hand. "Calm down." I said, looking into her eyes. She wraps her small hand on two of my fingers. I scan her body for injuries, thank god she didn't have any. "The smoke is going to get stronger, we need to get out." I tell her. She nods, waiting for my next command.
