Maplekit shivered under her mother's cold lick. it was snowing heavily, and their apprentice ceremony was today. "Zoomkit, straighten your fur! Oh, Bubblekit, your feathers." As Bubblekit flapped his wings ignorantly, Bramblestar leaped up onto the highrock.
"All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the highrock for a clan meeting!" cats began to pour from their shelter from the snow storm to gather at the rock.
"Today is a special day for ThunderClan!" he announced. "Zoomkit! Bubblekit! Maplekit! Step forward" Maplekit felt so excited. "Zoomkit, step forward. From now until you recieve your warrior name, you shall be known as Zoompaw" Bramblestar gazed around the crowd of cats in front of him, their pelts growing white with snow.
"Squirrelflight" he decided. "you are yet to have an apprentice. You have very sharp senses and battle skills. I expect you to pass these skills down to Zoompaw." Bramblestar paused as Zoompaw leaped down from the rock and touched noses with his mentor. "Bubblekit, from now until you recieve your warrior name, you shall be known as Bubblepaw. Birchfall, you are ready for another apprentice. You have courage and bravery, and I expect you to pass on these skills to Bubblepaw"
Maplekit bounced up and down as Bubblepaw jumped off the rock to Birchfall. It was her turn next! "Maplekit" Bramblestar called. "from now until you recieve your warrior name, you shall be know as Maplepaw. Leafpool, you are a warrior that has learned from her mistakes. I expect you to pass down to Maplepaw your skill and willing to help other cats" Bramblestar finished. "clan meeting over."
"Hi Leafpool! Are we gonna hunt?" Maplepaw wanted to get right to work. "are we gonna do patrol?"
"umm" Something flashed in Leafpool's eyes, but it went away in an instant. "The snow has stopped falling... So brush off some from the fresh kill pile"
The Pile was fully encased in a layer of snow. "Hey, Saturnpaw, any help?" she called. She motioned with her tail to the fresh kill pile, but he responded with "Nah, I got border patrol"
Maplepaw felt down about her first day as an apprentice. She thought it was too much work.
But she knew it was worth it. This was the best day ever!
