Chapter Thirty-Five (Final Chapter)

You and Aizawa arrived at the hospital 30 minutes later. You were now feeling the contractions and your ears were rapidly twitching in response. Aizawa tried to calm you. "Don't worry. We're here now..." He helped you out of the car and into the hospital. He took you up to the receptionist. "My wife's water just broke and she's only 8 months along. We need a doctor." The receptionist nodded. "I have a few nurses on their way. Just stay calm." Within minutes, the nurses took you away on a stretcher. They changed you into a gown and put you in a private room. Aizawa joined you a few minutes later. He sat in the chair next to you and held your hand. "You'll be alright, love. Soon, our baby will be here..." The doctor entered the room and checked your vitals before examining you. After a few minutes, the doctor spoke. "There seems to be nothing wrong with the baby. Neko children develop faster in the womb, so they may sometimes come 1-2 months early."

You looked at the doctor. "N-Neko? They have my ears and tail?" The doctor nodded. "From what I can see, yes. So you may also dilate faster than usual. I'll be in periodically to check." Aizawa sighed. "Thank you, doctor." The doctor exited the room and Aizawa turned to you. He smiled slightly. "They're like you. A sweet, beautiful one just like you..." You hummed. "Yes. It makes me happy..."

After a few hours, the doctor returned to check you. Your contractions had worsened slightly. "You're at 5 centimeters, halfway there. I'll be back shortly." The doctor left the room again and Aizawa turned to you, squeezing your hand. "Hizashi and Nemuri are in the waiting room." You tried to smile. "I bet they're just as excited as we are."

It was 3 hours later when the doctor returned again. Your contractions had significantly worsened and sweat was dripping down your forehead. The doctor checked you, but quickly pulled away after a few seconds. He turned to the nurse in the room. "It's time." The nurses prepped everything and once they were finished the doctor turned to you. "Alright. On three, push. 1, 2, 3...!" A searing burn spread through your body as you pushed. You squeezed Aizawa's hand as you continued to push. Aizawa squeezed your hand lightly. "You're doing so well. Just squeeze my hand..." This continued for another hour. The doctor looked up at you. "just a few more pushes." Your chest rose and fell rapidly as you tried to catch your breath. You squeezed Aizawa's hand tighter. You pushed as hard as you could. A cry filled the room. You watched as your baby was cleaned and placed on your chest. Aizawa kissed your forehead. The doctor spoke, breaking the moment.

"It's a girl."

You looked down at your baby and smiled. "Our Kaiya..." Aizawa smiled slightly. "It's beautiful. Forgiveness..." You looked at him. "Yes. For a new beginning can only begin once there has been forgiveness..." The nurses took Kaiya to be weighed, measured, and run a few other tests. As you rested, the door opened, revealing Mic, Midnight, Shinsou, Eri, and Ren. Eri and Ren sat on the bed next to you as Shinsou stood next to Aizawa. Midnight smiled. "So, who won the bet?" You looked at her. "Mm, you'll see." After 30 minutes, Kaiya was returned to you. You looked at everyone. "This is Kaiya Aizawa. Our beautiful baby girl..." Midnight grinned and turned to Mic. "I win! That's a free lunch!" Mic huffed. "Dang it!"

You turned to Aizawa and held out Kaiya. "Hold her..." Aizawa carefully took her into his arms. You smiled as the pure white ears on the top of her head twitched. Ren spoke quietly. "She's like us, mama..." Eri smiled. "Cute..."

Back at the dorms, everyone greeted you warmly. The girls cooed over the baby while the boys grumbled about losing the bet. You placed Kaiya in her crib before getting ready to sleep yourself. You slipped into bed and nuzzled into Aizawa's chest. "Tomorrow, we have somewhere to visit..." He looked at you. "Where?" You smiled. "It's a surprise."

The next morning, you woke up bright and early to Kaiya's cooing. You fed and changed her before getting yourself ready. You left Aizawa to sleep and headed down to the common room with Kaiya. A few hours later, you stood with Aizawa in front of the familiar iron gate. You led him through the tall grass as you held Kaiya. "We're almost there..." You stopped in front of the two headstones and spoke. "Hey mom, dad. I kept my promise. This is my daughter Kaiya and my fiancé, Shota Aizawa." The ring on your finger gleamed in the sunlight. Aizawa wrapped his arms around your waist and kissed your forehead. You smiled and looked up to the sky.

"I'm happy now. I'm no longer bound by the past..."

And you were right. Through it all, even in the toughest moments, you never stopped fighting. You broke free of your past and met so many wonderful people along the way. You found a child that had been taken from you and gave birth to another that would be your new beginning.

This new beginning would be one that would notbe bound by the shackles of the past.
