The ceremony was cut short due to the disturbance known as "Technoblade". Once the man had been taken away, Karl came out from behind the altar to address the crowd. He seemed quite panicked to George. He supposed this whole situation was quite odd, however George didn't exactly know what a normal ceremony was supposed to be like. It was like Technoblade had ruined the routine - and nobody in that damn cathedral knew how to handle it. They were not used to change. But, to be fair, neither was he. He still couldn't stop thinking about what the brightly-haired man had declared in front of everyone. There was no possible way he could be lying, right? George let his eyes, and ears, roam around the room, hearing into small glimpses of people's conversations.
"What the... what the actual muffin was that?" His eyes landed on the man talking, who was adjusting his glasses.
"Yeah, what the fuck was that?" His acquaintance replied.
"Zak! Language!" He shot back, and the other burst out laughing. George's eyes flicker elsewhere.
"Sorry, guys, this never usually happens..."
"No worries, Wilbur." A brunette boy smiled. Beside him, sat a practically faceless boy - who was much larger than him. He seemed rather awkward, with his limbs all cramped into one small space. And, he was wearing a mask and sunglasses inside for no apparent reason. He did not look comfortable, but he was somewhat pulling it off.
"Yeah, what Tubbo said! Besides, we all know Technoblade is a bit... nutty." A blonde boy butted in. Ah, they must be the people who joined recently - other than George, of course. With a sigh, he leaned back against the chair he was sitting in. So much was happening so quickly - he had no clue what to do. Instead of focusing on this overwhelming jealousy towards Dream's possible lover, maybe he should focus on the fact that Dream is actually real. He barely had time to process this; he had been thrown into the deep end. He shut his eyes, allowing himself to have some time to think. His breaths came in slowly, like a tide rolling onto the hot sand. Then suddenly, a wave crashed.
God!
Even when he closed his eyes, he saw him!
"I need to... I need to get away from everyone." George spoke quietly to Callahan, who smiled understandingly. "If you like, you can come with me." Cutely, Callahan's grin only got bigger - he nodded enthusiastically. The two of them stood, before exiting the nave and heading out to the courtyard. The warm air rushed over them like a wave rolling onto the sand, soothing their nerves almost immediately. The two of them had never been out to the courtyard before, however they instantly felt safe and comforted. There was an elderly tree hanging over them, hunching with age. It's branches hung over them, protective of its sturdy trunk. Dead in the centre of the courtyard, surrounded by evergreen grass was a water fountain. It had a clearly carefully sculpted "smiley" pattern surrounding the outside of it, whilst the water shot up into the air; forming sharp lines. Not one thing was out of place - not a single droplet, not a single carving... George didn't expect any less.
The pair of them sat down on a bench next to the fountain. Callahan beamed up at the fountain, watching with an adorable curiosity. George closed his eyes and drew in a lung full of the fresh air. He let the sound of the wind fill his ears. He couldn't stop all the things happening in his life currently, but in this moment he finally felt at peace. He felt as though he was back to his normal self - just some random kid in a flower shop, who had weird dreams. Did he prefer it that way? He wasn't quite sure. Yes, it was a safe life, but it was so... sheltered. There was absolutely nothing interesting in his life - in his real life. Perhaps he was a bit weird, now that he thought about it. He didn't really have friends; all he had was Clay. Some guy who, at the time, he thought didn't exist. That's embarrassing. As he was quietly contemplating he would think about love, the man he cherished and what was right with his life. He felt like Dream's whisper was in the trees. Once found this happiness would be easier to find again...
